Welcome Back! This is a series that I started when I wanted to highlight musicals I love that other might not not know of. I have expanded this to include very popular musicals that even a casual fan of theatre would know. Today, I want to talk about a jukebox musical called The Cher Show. I picked this one today because I have opinions on it,and  the cast recording was just released digitally on April 12th. Also, the cast will be taking over The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon tonight. This might be shorter than my other posts because the show is about real people. I will link to the gallery I used for the photos at the bottom of this post.

Information about the show

The show follows music icon Cherilyn Sarkisian La Piere Bono Allman, better known as Cher! When the musical begins, Cher is just starting her career, this Cher is called Babe, is played by Micaela Diamond making her Broadway debut. As the musical's timeline progresses, the audience is introduced to a Cher known as Lady, played on stage by Teal Wicks. The final version of Cher is Star, played in the musical by Stephanie J. Block. All three versions of Cher interact and sing some songs together.

The show started previews on November 1st 2018 and had the opening night on December 3rd 2018. The musical is currently running at the Neil Simon Theatre on Broadway.

Characters- 5 out of 5

So it is hard to discuss the characters in the musical because they're all real people. This is more of a section of me saying that I feel the actors in this production really embody the people they're playing. I based this just on the cast recording, as I have not seen this musical yet, but I feel safe in saying that the actors in this production have brought these people to life  telling this all new story. The characters in this show have flaws, I think this becomes clear as you listen to the cast recording, but I feel this helps them become more relatable to the audience. These are not characters in a story, they are based on real people and real events that happened.

Music and lyrics-  5 out of 5

I would like to give a shout out to the music team for this production. I love the arrangements used in the musical.  Each and every song is handled with care so it drives the beat and lyrics of  the original songs that people love.  I can tell the team went through and took time to pick which songs would be best  for the story they're telling. I find it hard to pick a favorite song, it might be Believe or  Time After Time, but each song is so great and works well. This musical does not have original music, but I find this is the perfect example of a Jukebox Musical done well. The music and lyrics work with the new arrangements to tell an all new tale for the audience.

Sisters- I might have mentioned this on the blog before but I have a younger sister and we’re only roughly 18 months a part. Cath and her twin sister Wren are polar  opposites and this is me and my sister. My younger sister is an extrovert and into science. I on the other hand,  am an introverted creative bookworm.  2- Miriam Kendrick from C
