Top 5 Tuesday Summer Reads

Hello! I know this post is two days late, but I really wanted to get it up even if it was late. Our host for this meme is Shanah @bionicbookworm. I have fun with this meme so I thought I would post this today. In the summer I read whatever I want usually, but I enjoy keeping it light as the weather is warmer.

1- Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

I needed to put my favorite YA Contemporary on the list. I discuss this book a lot, but I really love it and I think it is the perfect book for summer.  This light read about a woman named Cather Avery is about finding love and accepting yourself for who you are. The bonus for us readers is that Cath is a reader and a writer.

2- Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli

I could have also out Simon Vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda here, but I wanted to highlight this one as I have highlighted the other one in the past. While I have opinions on this book, overall, I enjoyed it and I think it's the perfect read for the summer. As a bonus, Leah is Bi, so it makes the perfect read for Pride Month! The novel is a pretty fast read and follows Leah Burke, a teen who is finding her identity and starting to accept herself for who she is. The rest of the gang from the first book is present in this book making it extra fun.

3- Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee

This is another read for Pride Month as the lead is Ace. When I read this a few years ago, I feel in love with it because it was about a Web Series and I adore Literary Web Series, this one is about Anna Karenina. I loved following along with the cast of characters on the journey to fame when they were nominated for a Golden Tuba.

4- What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera

A final recommendation for Pride Month! I loved this Meet Cute with a twist when Ben and Arthur met at the post office, and then Arthur turns to Craigslist for a missed connection! What unravels is a sweet story about two men finding love. Also, this book has some deep cut Musical Theater references!

5- Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie

I wanted to put a classic on this list to give a break from YA Contemporary. While I could have put any classic here, I picked Peter Pan because something about Never Land just screams Summer and warmer weather to me.

Top Ten Tuesday- characters that remind me of myself

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! This is a weekly meme where readers discuss ten or whatever number you would like to have based on a prompt. Our host is Jana at  thatartsyreadergirl . Our topic this week is Characters Like Myself. I am going to take a two words that each character has in in my opinion,  and discuss how that relates to me  as well. 1- Cather Avery from Fangirl Writer- At her core, Cath is a writer, and she loves her stories. I am a writer of both Fan Fiction and original stories like Cath so this was an automatic in for this. Both of us love our work and we tend to through ourselves whole hardheartedly into our work. Sisters- I might have mentioned this on the blog before but I have a younger sister and we’re only roughly 18 months a part. Cath and her twin sister Wren are polar  opposites and this is me and my sister. My younger sister is an extrovert and into science. I on the other hand,  am an introverted creative bookworm.  2- Miriam Kendrick from C

Top Ten Tuesday-- Favorite Places to read

Hi! Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme Jana hosts @ thatartsyreadergirl This weekly meme was born out of a love of lists, and bringing the book blogging community together. Each Week, Jana will post a prompt, and we readers will post our list as a reply. We also have the option of going rogue, and posting a topic of our own choosing or a past topic. This week out topic is favorite places to read.   1- At my desk   I read a lot in my room and at my desk. I’m trying to find another method because I tend to stop reading and look at a notification that distracts me. I enjoy reading at my desk because it’s easy.  2- In bed I need to be wide awake to read in bed, but I might start doing it more. Reading in bed is less distracting for me, but it still can make me tired. 3- In the car Some weeks I spend a lot of time in the car. When I’m in the the car I’ll try to read a chapter or two, but it sends up being more like 3-4 depending on how long the car ride is.
