2020 reading and blogging goals!

Hi! I know it's been a crazy few weeks for everyone, including me, so that's why it's been so silent here on the blog. This is the time of year when everyone posts their reading, and blogging goals for the new year, as a way to move forward and grow their blogging community. I will discuss my goals for the year, as I have been pondering them a lot over the last few days. I hope everyone had a fantastic Holiday season, and I can't wait to see what the upcoming year brings.

Goodreads challenge

As always, I will do a Goodreads challenge. This goal is simple, as all you need to do is read, and count the book towards your goal. Once I finish Fairest of All, probably tomorrow, if not definitely Tuesday, I will have finished 40 books this year. That is lower than some years, yet higher than in previous years. My Goodreads goal for 2020 will be 40 books, with the opportunity to raise it. This year, I finished my Goodreads goal in August, hit a bit of a slump because I didn't need to read much anymore, and came back swinging this month. I want to keep my stamina up, so this doesn't happen again, and I can continue to read new books.

Backlist challenge

Beat the backlist 2020 is hosted by novelknight.com. I have seen various challenges with the same goal, but I came across this one today. What appealed to me the most was the fact that there are teams, and the bingo board was an added enticement for this version.  I will join Team Multiple and trying to complete the normal challenge bingo board. I have some vague ideas for my TBR, but I also want to keep it open and count every book I can, even if it doesn't fit a square on the board.

Some books on the TBR for this

A Little Princess (Physical)

The Secret Garden (Physical)

Anne of Green Gables (Physical)

Marilla of Green Gables (Ebook)

The  rest of the Grisha verse (Ebooks)

The Lunar Chronicles 2-4, Fairest, Heartless, Short Stories, and Graphic Novels starring Iko Physical and maybe Ebook for the Graphic Novels.)

Renegades and the subsequent books (Physical or Ebooks)

Building Your Best Writing  Life (Ebook)

Use websites to read more

I have an account on NetGalley, but I never use it. I want to get myself better suited with that and get my ratings up, so I can try to read arcs of bigger releases. The reason my rating is low is that I have some auto approvals I am trying to get on my Kindel app, I'm just not sure how.

Post more reviews

I posted more reviews this year than I did in 2018. I'm loving the review system I found works best for me. Goodreads was also a place I posted reviews this year, but I want to put some formal reviews here on the blog. As a writer and blogger, I feel this will help my brand, and get different posts on the blog here.

Stick to a schedule even if I have to use  drafts

I have never once used the drafts feature on Blogger. What I do now is write furiously the day I post the blog, or just let reviews sit because I have a short time for them. In 2020, I hope to carve out more time during the day to work on posts in advanced, that way I can just post and comment. If I have a particularly busy week, I want to use the draft feature to queue up a post for the day. Reviews will probably be drafts that post on a certain day

Post more discussions

Okay, so I never post discussions, and I have opinions and ideas for them. Next year, I simply want to have more discussions of reading, blogging, and writing-related things. I believe these will be fun posts to write, and I will enjoy them.

Join more memes

Memes have been the most fun I've had as a blogger! I want to join new ones, to not only read new kinds of posts but to meet new people! My idea is to join the Book Blogger Hop, and Friday 56, and others I have seen around.

Engage with the community more

As you may have noticed, over the last few months I have let a week or more go by without a reply to a comment. In the new year, I want to do comment replies within two days of a post, and I want to move our conversations to Twitter for a more casual setting. I am in the Facebook group TBR and Beyond, and I want to do more events with them. I am a member of several Goodreads groups, and I want to chat more with them as well. Comments on blogs is another goal I have for next year!

Top Ten Tuesday- characters that remind me of myself

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! This is a weekly meme where readers discuss ten or whatever number you would like to have based on a prompt. Our host is Jana at  thatartsyreadergirl . Our topic this week is Characters Like Myself. I am going to take a two words that each character has in in my opinion,  and discuss how that relates to me  as well. 1- Cather Avery from Fangirl Writer- At her core, Cath is a writer, and she loves her stories. I am a writer of both Fan Fiction and original stories like Cath so this was an automatic in for this. Both of us love our work and we tend to through ourselves whole hardheartedly into our work. Sisters- I might have mentioned this on the blog before but I have a younger sister and we’re only roughly 18 months a part. Cath and her twin sister Wren are polar  opposites and this is me and my sister. My younger sister is an extrovert and into science. I on the other hand,  am an introverted creative bookworm.  2- Miriam Kendrick from C

Top Ten Tuesday books/ series I would recommend to someone who says don’t like to read.

Hi! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana @ thatartsyreadergirl . This weekly meme was born out of a love of lists and bringing the book blogging community together. Each week, Jana will post a topic, and we will all make a list based on that topic. This week, the topic is Books Written Before I Was Born ( These can be books you’ve read or want to read! ) ( submitted by Davida Chazan @ The Chocolate Lady’s Book Review Blog ). I wasn’t feeling this, and so I went through and found a post from The Broke & the Bookish, and I did that. The original post can  be found here . I thought I would recommend some books from some of my favorite genres.   The Classics 1- Pride & Prejudice This is one of my favorite classics, and when making my list this week, I knew I needed to include it. The reason is that I think this is one of the best books by Jane Austen, and we use the story in a lot of modern media. 2- To Kill A Mocking Bird I was so surprised by how much I loved this

Top Ten Tuesday-Books I want to reread

Hi! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by  Jana@thatartsyreadergirl . This meme was born out of a love of lists and brings the book blogging community together. Each week Jana posts a topic, and we book bloggers write a response. This week, it's books I want to reread.  1- Pride & Prejudice   This is a classic I’ve read twice, I think? At least once, anyway, I love this novel so much. My favorite character in the book is Lizzie. I also miss the story. Maybe in 2021? Anyway, I miss this book and I want to reread it. 2- Foolish Hearts   I read this book in the summer of 2019. I had been in a bit of a slump at the time, so this pulled me out of it. I read the novel in about two weeks, and I just loved it so much. My favorite character is Claudia, and I want to revisit the book. That this involves theatre is another reason I need to reread this book ASAP. 3- After Anatevka   I know I talk about this book so much on the blog. I read this a few years ago now, and I want to revisit the charact
