Top Ten Tuesday-Anticipated Releases for the second half of the year

Hi! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by  Jana@thatartsyreadergirl . This meme was born out a love of lists and bringing the book blogging community together. Each week, Jana will post a prompt, and we bloggers make a list as a response to the prompt. We also have the option of going rogue and doing our own thing. This week, I revised my New Releases 2021 Shelf on Goodreads and looked at releases I can't wait for in the second half of the year.  1- Anyway the Wind Blows (Simon Snow # 3) by Rainbow Rowell I’ve read the other books in this series and enjoyed them. According to Instagram, this will be the biggest book in this series, and I’m so excited to read it! 2- Battle of the Bands by Various I have read a few authors who contributed to this anthology, and they all follow music. I will try to work this onto my tbr when I want a variety of stories. I might pre-order it, or I’ll just grab the Ebook after it comes out.  3- Here’s to Us (What If It’s Us # 2) by B...

Theatrical Thursday- In The Heights Movie Review

Hi! In The Heights is a new movie musical that came out recently. I wanted to write my thoughts into a review so you could all know what I thought. For some background, I enjoy the musical In The Heights, and I saw it once on Broadway. I enjoy the characters and the story, so my expectations going into this were high. This film exceeded my expectations and I really loved this movie.  This is my favorite movie musical in the last decade. I would rate this movie 5 stars but would give more. Read on to see my thoughts on the film. See the film in theaters or on HBO Max!  Likes Characters In The Heights is a story that tells the story of Washington Heights. The characters are the heartbeat of the story, and they were excellently crafted on screen. I love In The Heights because of the characters, and while I do have favorites, I love a lot of the characters. Going in, I was worried about how the story would adapt because the characters are originally from a stage musical, s...

Top Ten Tuesday- Bookish Wish list- Releases that came out in the first half of 2021 I still want to read

Hi! Jana hosts Top Ten Tuesday @thatartsyreadergirl . This meme was born out of a love of lists and bringing the book blogging community together. Each week, Jana will post a prompt, and we book bloggers will take that topic and run with it, or do our own thing. In honor or Jana’s birthday today, this week we’re talking about bookish wish lists. I did a spin on this topic by going through my New Releases 2021 tag on Goodreads and picking out some books I wanted to read but don’t have copies of yet.  1- When You Get the Chance by Tom Ryan & Robin Stevenson This story caught my eye because it follows cousins on a road trip to pride. I believe this will be an emotional book. As you know, I love a hard-hitting contemporary. 2- My Contrary Mary (The Mary’s # 1) by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, Jodi Meadows I read the first book in the lady Janie’s last year and finished it this year I loved it. I want to see what they do with the Mary’s in this series. 3- Love Is A Revolut...

Elliott 3- Everything Will Be Ok Advice for Young Women (From A Former Young Women) by Dana Perino (Finish) 4- The Downstairs Girl by Stacy Lee 5- Working on A Song The Lyrics of Hadestown by Anais Mitchell Ebooks 6- Something to Talk about by Meryl Wilsner 7-Like A Love Story by Abdi Nazemian 8- Now That I’ve F...

Cheer Up: Love and Pompoms by Crystal Frasier & Val Weiss (E-ARC) Review

Hi! When I saw this on Net Galley Read Now I knew I needed to read it. I try and read books that are new to me or books that I don’t read a lot of expanding my reading horizons. This graphic novel was so cute and I just loved it. Title: Cheer Up: Love and Pompoms Authors: Crystal Frasier and Val Weiss (illustrations)  Genre: Contemporary, Graphic Novel Pages: 128, Rep: Trans MC, POC MC, LGBTQ+, Add to Goodreads & Storygraph:  Goodreads  &  Storygraph     Characters Oh, my goodness I fell so hard for these characters. The story follows Annie, who is a senior and needs to get some more extra circulars for college. I adored how no non-sense and how much Annie cared about her best friend Beatrice. The supporting cast of other cheerleaders was also excellent, and I enjoyed getting to know them in this novel. The graphic novel might be short, but the characters really pack a punch. I also loved seeing all the representation ...

Top Ten Tuesday- Freebie- LGBTQ+ reads for Pride Month

Hi! Happy Pride! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ thatartsyreadergirl . This meme was born out of a love of lists and bringing the book blogging community together. Each week, Jana posts a prompt, and we book bloggers are challenged to write a response to that topic. There is also the option of doing our own thing and doing what we want. This week it is a freebie, and because June is Pride Month, I thought I would feature my favorite LGTBQ+ reads. Gay 1- Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli I discuss this book a lot on this blog but I love Simon and Bram in this book. I think the relationship is so sweet, even if they have a bit of a rocky start. The supporting characters are what make this book what it is. 2- Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston I feel like many people have met Alex and Henry by now. If you haven’t, I recommend this New Adult romance following the son of the female president and the prince of England. This ...
