Pippa Park Raises Her Game by Erin Yun Book Review

Hi! I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Title: Pippa Park Raises Her Game Author: Erin Yun Genre: Middle Grade Rep: Korean MC Rating: 5 stars (*****) I grabbed this book as a read on Edelweiss + because I wanted to read E-Arcs. It drew me to the title of this book, and that it seemed like it would be a fun read. I have not read many books about athletes, especially sports playing such a big part in the story. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and learning about Pippa.   The plot of this story was something that took me by surprise. I’m not really a sports person, so I read this on a whim. What I found early on was that this was not just a story about a basketball player, this was a story about growth, change, finding yourself, and finding who your loyal friends are. The other themes of this book were family, earning money, and grief. I loved these themes because I feel like not only middle-grade readers, but anyone can relate to th

Top Ten Tuesday- New to me authors I read in 2020

Hello! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana @ thatartsyreadergirl . This meme is about bringing the book blogging community together and fostering our love of lists. Each week, Jana will post a topic, and we bloggers will create a list based on that prompt. This week our topic is New to Me Authors of 2020. Luckily, Goodreads has our reading challenges, and I went back and made my list based on that. 1- Emma Lord Tweet Cute was one of my top ten reads of 2020. It was so cute and so much fun. I loved Emma’s writing; and how she brought the characters to life on the page. 2- Casey McQuiston I was late on the Casey McQuiston train. I read Red, White, and Royal Blue last year, and it was delightful. Her writing style is so much fun, and the characters she creates are so sweet. 3- Jenny Lee   Anna K was a serious and fun read. I thought Jenny Lee had the perfect balance of serious topics and light-hearted moments. 4- Marissa Meyer If you’ve been following my blog for a while,

In The Queue Where it Happens

Hi! It's been a few weeks, and I've actually got some stuff to share today. This post is what I call my other media post. I have a lot of things I watch, listen to, and play.  TV and Movies  I don't remember if I talked about this in my last post, but I started Julie & The Phantoms on Netflix. I'm very much enjoying it, and I can't see where the story goes. My parents and I watched a lot of The Mandalorian last weekend. Between Saturday and Sunday, we watched all but the last five episodes in season 2. I love it so much, and I hope it continues past the second season. The show is enough Star Wars lore to please Star Wars fans, but also you don't need to know Star Wars lore to enjoy the show.  I watched Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet last weekend with my parents as well. We loved it so much, and I thought it was so cute. I thought the internet part of the movie was so well done. One of my favorite scenes in the movie was the Princess sleepover.

Top Ten Tuesday + one Honorable Mention Books I should have read in 2021

Hi! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana @ .thatartsyreadergirl . Every week, Jana will post a prompt and we book bloggers will make a list as a reply to the prompt, or a past one if we’re not feeling the current one. This bookish meme was born out of a love of lists and bringing the book blogging community together. This week, our prompt is books we wanted to read in 2020, but for some reason or other, we never got around to reading them. This year, I plan on reading a few of these as a part of my reading challenges. Classics 1- The Secret Garden 2- A Little Princess 3- Anne of Green Gables   I tell myself every year I will read more classics. I’ve been telling myself for years that I need to read these three books, and this will finally be the year. I can’t wait to read these and see what I think about them. Fantasy  4- A Curse So Dark and Lonely 5- The Ten Thousand Doors of January 6- A Starless Sea   Fantasy is a genre I read a lot of last year. I never got t

Can't Wait Wednesday- The Desolations of Devil's Acre by Ransom Riggs

Hi! Can't-Wait Wednesday is hosted by  Tressa@wishfulendings . Top Ten Tuesday - Bookish, Creative, and Non-Bookish Goals

Hi! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana  @thatartsyreadergirl . The purpose of this meme is to bring the book blogging community together and foster our love of lists. Each week, Jana will post a blog, and we bloggers have the opportunity to make a post based on that prompt or one of our own choosing. This week we're talking about our bookish and not bookish goals for the new year.  The Bookish Related 1- My first bookish goal is to read 35 books. I keep my Goodreads and Story Graph goals low, but ones that are still achievable for me. So far, I’ve read for books, so I’m on target, but the books I’ve finished were leftover from 2020. Keeping my goals middle of the road like this means that I can read a load of books, but the goals can still be achievable for me.   2- The second goal I want to do this year is reading challenges. I am going to keep this a second goal because I want to talk about them as a separate item. I am doing three book challenges this year, and the books I read

In the Queue Where it Happens

Hi! This is my post where I talk to you about the other media I’ve been enjoying. Usually, these books will not be related to books. TV and Movies I’ve watched a few TV shows from my last post. I believe I said I started The Owl House and The Mandalorian on Disney +. I still have not finished either of those, but I hope to make some progress on them soon. I finished High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, and I can’t wait for season 2. I recently finished Dash & Lily and started Julie & The Phantoms. I am enjoying this show so much, and I can’t believe it took me this long to watch it. Dash & Lily was so cute and I loved it. I watched Despicable Me 3 on Christmas Day, I thought it was ok. Before that, I had watched The Prom, and if you know anything about me or the content I enjoy, you should know that The Prom was right up my alley. I’ve watched it twice so far, and I feel like I should watch it again soon. Godmothered is a movie on Disney +, and it’s so cute

Magna Classics: Jane Eyre (Book Review)

Overview  I knew Jane Eyre when I started this novel. I enjoy the story, and I call it one of my favorites. This was the second Magna Classics I've read. Overall, I enjoyed this book, but I would not rate it five stars.  Plot The plot remains the same, with some beats of the original novel getting more, and some getting less time depending on importance, I think we could have used more time getting to know Jane as a child, and seeing her interact with the family she stayed with. Those characters are an important part of the plot, and I feel that this Manga just rushed past these interactions. We could have seen more development between Jane and Mr. Rochester as well. We see the start of a relationship, and they get married. Suddenly Jane leaves, and it leaves you wondering if she will come back if you don't know the story. What I think could have been less was Jane and her cousins later in the book. I understand why the authors made that choice; I feel it would have been a be
