Christmas book haul

Hey Everyone! Steph here, and today I will post about the new books I got for Christmas. I get books from my aunt every year, so I know what the books are as I give her a list to what I would like. All Images from Goodreads. The books Gmorning, Gnight!: Little Pep Talks for Me & You Why I wanted this book: this book is on the list because I love Lin -Manuel Miranda's tweets. Having a book where I could read the tweets all in one place. I love the art in the book and how it captures the messages of the text. I am reading this book every morning, and every night until I finish the book. So far, I am enjoying the pep talks as a way of reflecting at the start and end of every day. All I Know Now: Wonderings and Reflections on Growing Up Gracefully Why I wanted the book: I knew of Carrie Hope Flecther from being one of my favorite Eponine's on one of the recordings of Les Miserables I own. Beyond that, I did not understand who she was until I started this book. I

2019 Reading Goals

Hey everyone, Steph here and today I am going to talk about my reading and writing goals for 2019. 1- Be more active in the book blogging community 2018 was a wonderful professional year for me, however, I put my blog on the back burner. In the new year, I would love to review more books and build my platform on this blog and beyond. I would love to receive some arcs of books, and I'm not one to put myself on YouTube, so I thought this was the next best thing. 2- Try a readathon I always say that I'm too busy, and because of that, I miss out on some pretty fun readathons. I want to start with a week-long one, however; I know that those are less common than just a day or two. 3- Read 30 books I always set my Goodreads goal low, I was a student and now that I'm graduated I will have more time to read. I surpassed my goals this year, and so I want to up the goal by ten books. 4- Keep up with Buzzfeed Page Turners Buzzfeed Page Turners is a Facebook Group by Buz

Currently Reading

Hey everyone Steph here and today I am going to talk about the books I am currently reading.  It's not a December TBR because I have been reading most of them of months now. My end of the year goal is to finish all of these. Hiddensee by Gregory Maguire This is the only book I have not started yet. It is a retelling of The Nutcracker. I have read Maguire's Wicked series and loved that. I picked this month to read this book because it is perfect for the Holiday season. The Romanov Sisters: The Lost Lives of the Daughters of Nicholas and Alexandra by Helen Rapaport Now, this is not my usual genre of reading. I love History and Anastasia so this is a combination of both. This is a book about what happened to Olga, Tatiana, Maria, and Anastasia Romanov. It talks about their lives and I love it. I am on page 206 of the story,  but I am reading the notes in the back of the book as I read. I have about 9 chapters of this book left The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and

Original Tumblr post:  http://sofiahg.tumblr.com/post/148281817793/musical-theatre-themed-ask Some musical theatre-related questions I often find myself thinking about: 1. What was the first musical you saw? I am pretty sure it was Annie.  2. What musical got you really into theatre? This was definitely Les Miserables 3. Who was your first Broadway crush? I don't remember 4. Name three of your current Broadway crushes. I don't really have crushes on Broadway Actors 5. The Royal Court Book Tag

Hey everyone Steph here, and today I want to do The Royal Court Book Tag. All Images come from Goodreads. 1. Kingdom: Every Court Needs a Kingdom -What Fictional World Would You Rule Over I would say one of the courts in the ACOTAR series. I say that Night Court, but I would also love the day court. 2. Consort: Life At The Top Can Get Lonely - Pick Your Partner in Crime (Boyfriend/Girlfriend) Mr. Darcy from P&P. I love his character and I think that he would push me out of my shell. 3. Heir: Someone Needs to Keep Your Legacy Going - Pick a Royal Character Who Deserves to Rule After You Ana from Heart of Iron. I believe she has a love for both where she came from, and for D09. Yes, she is an off-center choice, but I feel that once she got used to the position, she could be a great ruler. 4. Royal Guard: Being a Ruler Comes With Many Dangers - Pick a Character You Trust To Have Your Back Hermione from Harry Potter. She is smart and loyal so I feel that I woul

Musical Theatre Booktag!

Hello! I want to do the Musical Theatre book tag being a fan of theatre. The original source is the video, but I originally found out about it from Books&Writing Amino. I am going to be uploading the tags on Thursdays to get my blog going again, and because I find these book tags so much fun. I have a list of tags that I want to do, but feel free to suggest some you would like to see me do as well. Enjoy the tag I had a lot of fun doing this post for you all today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORkQsDVBJVA&feature=youtu.be This is for this week's challenge. 1. Wicked - Favourite fictional friendship When it comes to fictional friendship I have many that I love and adore. Emikia and the Phoenix Riders from the Warcross duology by Marie Lu. I give this prompt to them because they’re such a mixed bag of personalities and histories. This crew is like a family because they have trained together for a while, and in close quarters you become close to people. They help eac

Art Clan #1

I'm a member of the Art Clan on Musical Fans Amino. The prompt this month was two different styles for writers. This is a  pantoum inspired by the song "Dear Baby" from Waitress. In the song, the main character Jenna is writing a letter to her unborn baby, and I decided to use that for the first piece.  Dear Baby, I hope that you make every moment last (Line I) I know that you might wonder about your father, and one day the details will come out (Line 2) I hope that you remember that I love you no matter what (Line 3) I hope that life brings you as much joy as you bring me(Line 4) I know that you might wonder about your father, and one day the details will come out (Line 5—same as 2) We have some amazing friends that you will meet one day (Line 6) I hope that life brings you as much joy as you bring me (Line 7—same as 4) One day I will tell you the  story about how you came to be (Line 8) We have some amazing friends that you will

Back to Before - Marin Mazzie (Ragtime)

I loved Marin Mazzie so much and I am saddened by her passing.

Weekly Challenge from Books & Writing Amino

Hello! I am a member of Books & Writing Amino. There are weekly challenges, and I am going to be more active with doing them, so I thought I would upload my blog here, and then upload them there as well. This weeks was the idea of Celine, and I thank her so much for it. The challenge was to shuffle your playlist and take 5-10 songs and connect them to a character. As an avid lover of music and books, this challenge was made for me. 1: The Abduction from Natasha, Pierre and Great Comet of 1812 (Off-Broadway cast recording) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QT4KFjhhLCg "Friends of my youth when shall we meet again?" It seems like a cheating to pick Anatole who starts the song and forms the plan. I am going to say Tamlin from A Court of Thrones And Roses series by Sarah J. Maas. If you listen to the lyrics you might not see it, but I see that Tamlin is like Anatole, so my mind right to him.  I would say that Tamlin is the villain in the series, and although he didn

Update & About the blogger

Hello, I wanted to take this time to give an update about what I am doing, and what has been going on within my world,  I would also like to take the time to tell you all about myself, just you that you feel that you can get to know me better. I will end this post with the different things that you will find on this blog this month. Update I am almost done with my Bachelor's, and I will be graduating in December. It has been a long time coming, but I am very excited that I am almost done.  I am not sure what I will do after graduation, but I would like to work for an online site as a writer, or I would like to do some freelancing work. I love writing, and it's very much my passion nowadays. I write mostly in the Young Adult vain, and I love it so much.  A few months ago, I joined a theatre board to help out. Over the last two months, I have become a full-time member of this board, and I write weekly theatre editorials. What  I love most about it is coming up with wh

Reader Problems Book Tag

1. You have 20,000 books in your TBR, how in the world do you decide what to read next? It depends on what I'm in the mood for. I will usually pick a read that I got the most recently, and knock that out, or I will read something that I've had on my tbr for a while. I will also use the internet, and people that I know that have read and enjoyed the book, so I will read that. Honestly, it will depend on a lot of different factors. If I have just read a heavy read, I will read a lighter read for a bit of a break.  2. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you put it down or are you committed? Honestly, 99.99% of the time I am committed to the book. If it is just a slow part I will push and power through it, I know that there is always something that is slow in the book. I may skip through a section, or read a section really fast, but I will almost always stick with the book and be committed to the book.  3. The end of the year is coming and
