Fearless (Fearless Series Book 1) by Mandy Gonzalez Review

Hi! As some of you may know, Fearless was one of the top anticipated reads of the year. I read this book in eight days, and if you know me, that is fast for me to read a book. I wanted to do a review of this book because I loved it so much, and I wanted to talk about how much I devoured this book.   Info Title: Fearless (Fearless Series Book 1) Author: Mandy Gonzalez Genre: Middle Grade, Contemporary, Mystery Publication: April 6 th, 2021 Edition Read: Hardcover Add to Goodreads:  Here Rating: ***** (5 stars) Explaining my star rating  Characters One of the first things that drew me to love this book was the characters. I loved each and every one of them, and I wanted to know more about their stories. The characters in this book were delightful, so I needed to give them a star in my rating. We follow Monica, a girl from California who moves to New York City for a job as an understudy. In New York City, she meets April, Hudson, and Relly, other kids in the cas

Top Ten Tuesday Animals from books

Hi! Jana hosts Top Ten Tuesday @ thatartsyreadergirl . A love of lists inspires this weekly meme and bringing the book blogging community together. Each Week, Jana will make a post, and we book bloggers will write a response to the post. If we’re feeling like being different, we can use a different topic. This week our topic is animals from books. This topic as submitted by Paige @ paigesquared and Jennifer Y @ never2many2read. 1- Grover from The Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan When I saw this prompt, I knew my favorite satyr from Percy Jackson would be on the list. Grover is Percy’s friend, but he is half-human, half-goat, so he fits this prompt. I love how sassy he is, and how much he cares for Percy. 2- Winnie the Pooh from Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Mine I’ve maybe read  these books as a child but I don’t remember them. Pooh is on this list because I love his personality in the media I’ve seen. He’s so much fun and I love him a lot. Also, I have one I got from Disney World when

Theatrical Thursday's-R&H Goes Pop -Album Review

Hi! I've been thinking of a way to add more theatre posts to my blog. Once a month I will review an album from a Broadway artist, or a movie musical or tv show with a soundtrack others might like. I will include links to the Spotify album and a YouTube Channel to watch videos if available. This week, we're starting with R&H Goes Pop.  1- Oh What A Beautiful Morin’- Jeremy Jordan Those familiar with the original song will enjoy this cover. I’m a fan of Jeremy Jordan’s voice, and I feel his style captures the modern take on the song perfectly. One of my favorite parts is the guitar riff in the middle of the song. 2- Shall We Dance/ A Wonderful Guy–Ariana DeBose This cover is wildly different from anything I’ve heard with these two songs before. I love the choices made, and I think it’s so much fun. For fans of the original songs, it might take some getting used to, and you need to go into this cover knowing it’s very different. How different and unique it makes it o

Top Ten Tuesday –Middle-Grade novels

Hi! Jana hosts Top Ten Tuesday @ thatartsyreadergirl . This meme was born out of a love of lists and bringing the book blogging community together. Each week Jana posts a topic, and we bloggers come up with a list as a response. We also have the option of doing our own thing. This week the topic is colorful book covers. I usually come up with a different theme for all the cover-themed TTT’s. This week I’m sharing Top Ten Middle Grade reads for Middle-Grade May!!!! I think that Middle Grade is doing some great things. Here are ten Middle-Grade books I’ve loved. 1- Fearless (Fearless Series Book 1) by Mandy Gonzalez 2- The Chance to Fly by Ali Stroker 3- Rule of Threes by Marcy Campbell 4- The Disability Experience by Hannalora Leavitt, and Belle Wuthrich (Illustrations) 5- Why She Wrote by Lauren Burke, Hannah K. Chapman, and Kaley Bales (Illustrations) 6- The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan 7- The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan 8- The House of Hades by Rick Riordan

Hey yo Westerberg- Heathers the musical Booktag!

Hi! Today I wanted to do a book tag. This is the Heathers the Musical booktag. From the moment I saw it, I knew I would need to do this tag. The original idea came from Carrie Hope Fletcher posting the video of her doing the tag- here . 1. Beautiful: The prettiest book cover in your collection I have many, but I have to go with Romanov. I love the black and gold of this cover. 2. Fight for me: A character that’s loyal to the end So many characters fit this prompt. For the sake of this tag, I’m going to go with Cath Avery from Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Even when she was at odds with her sister, Cath was still loyal to her sister. 3. Dead Girl Walking: The steamiest book you’ve ever read I’m not one to read a book that has a lot of steamy scenes or romances. A Court of Sliver Flames by Sarah J. Maas because of the scenes between Nesta and Cassian fit this prompt for me. 4. The Me Inside of Me: A book that made you feel less alone I just started The Chance to Fly by Ali

Can’t Wait Wednesday- Kate in Waiting by Becky Albertalli

Hi! Can’t wait Wednesday is hosted by Tressa @ wishfulendings . This weekly meme is based on Waiting on Wednesday, which was hosted by Jill @ breakingthespine . The purpose of this meme is to feature a book that we can’t wait to read. This week I’m featuring Kate In Waiting by Becky Albertalli. All information comes from Goodreads.   Title: Kate In Waiting Author: Becky Albertalli Genre: YA, Contemporary, LGBTQ+ Expected publication: April 20 th , 2021 Add to Goodreads: Here   Goodreads Summary Contrary to popular belief, best friends Kate Garfield and Anderson Walker are not codependent. Carpooling to and from theater rehearsals? Environmentally sound and efficient. Consulting each other on every single life decision? Basic good judgment. Pining for the same guys from afar? Shared crushes are more fun anyway.   But when Kate and Andy’s latest long-distance crush shows up at their school, everything goes off script. Matt Olsson is talented and sweet, and Kate li

Top Ten Tuesday books that could be Crayola crayon colors

Hi! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana @ thatartsyreadergirl . Each week, Jana will post a prompt, and we as readers write a response to that, or a different one if we’re not feeling the original prompt that week. This is a meme that was born out of a love of lists and bringing the book blogging community together. This week, our prompt is book titles that could be Crayola crayon colors. I have to be honest; I was thinking about changing it up this week. Once I got thinking about the topic in a more general sense, I easily came up with ten I thought could work. Read on to see the books I picked for this week and see my thoughts on them. 1- Cinder- brick red/ brown This is the first in a Sci-fi/ Fantasy. I loved this book and I don’t read a ton of the genre. This book was so fun and the characters are great. The series follows Fairy Tales, and it is retellings, this one following Cinderella. I picked a brick/ red color because I feel like Cinder is a dark character with some light

April 2021 TBR

Hi! I know it's also a little late to announce a TBR for the month, but I've been working at most of these for a few weeks already. I'm not doing any challenges other than Reading Rivalry and the TBR and Beyond Game. I talked about my tbr a few weeks ago, but I thought I would do it again here.  Physical Books Love & War ( Alex & Eliza 2)- This book is not as good as the first one was for me. It's starting to pick up which is good.  Rule of Wolves- Ok, but can we talk about this book?! It is amazing and I love it so much. I'm 220 pages in and I just love it.  Fearless (Fearless Series Book 1)- I want to start this today, but if not definitely tomorrow! I'm excited to read it.  The Chance to Fly- I'm going to start this book Tuesday when it comes out.  Kate In Waiting- in checking I had all the books in the graphic I forgot Kate in Waiting was coming out this month. I'm looking forward to reading it! A Court of Sliver Flames- If I'm not done

March 2021 Wrap up

Hi! I know it's like a week after March but I wanted to do a bit of a wrap-up. Here are all the books I read in March and some stats.  For Cars Readathon- Tales of the Peculiar (4 stars ****) This book was ok. I enjoy some of the stories more than others.  Fairest (5 stars *****) Oh man this book was all kinds of nuts but I loved it so much!!! For Trope-ical Readathon  5 stars A Little Princess I loved this Classic so much Fun Home- this was the first book I finished and I cried all the way through reading it.  Crown of Midnight- Omg, this book was so good. I'm on a bit of a break from this series to read Rule of Wolves and finish A Court of Sliver Flames.  Fat Chance, Charlie Vega- I laughed, I cried, I felt all the emotions with this one.  Alex & Eliza A Love Story (Alex & Eliza one) - This was a reread for my project for this blog. I loved it so much.  4.5 stars By the Book- I think I just had some pacing issues with this book. It's not a terrible book, and I e

Rule of Threes by Marcy Campbell (E-Arc Review)

Hi! I saw this book on Net Galley Read Now a few months ago, and I grabbed it because it seemed like a fun Middle-Grade novel. I’m glad I decided to take the plunge and grab this because I had such a fun time reading this.  Title: Rule of Threes Author: Marcy Campbell Genre: Middle-Grade, Contemporary  Add to Storygraph: https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/fc4ee058-b834-44c5-8c35-2ac201a4db47 Characters   This book had wonderful and complex characters, which is why I gave it the first star. If you know me, you know that I prefer to read character-driven novels as opposed to plot-based ones. I loved the characters in this book because like the world they were living in, they were raw and real. I would call this book middle grade because the characters had personalities that kids of that age group tend to have. The principal character Maggie was sweet, and she had a passion for design, which I loved to see. Her half-brother Tony was a guy who wanted what was best for his moth
