Hey, everyone Steph here and today I am going to talk about the musical Amelie. I am doing this as part of my underappreciated musicals series. I know it's been a while but I'm back! Let's get to it. Productions Amelie is a musical based on a film of the same name. The show has had three productions including the Broadway one.  The first production opened at Berkeley Rep with Samanta Barks as Amelie. The show then moved to LA where it ran from December 4th, 2016- January 15th, 2017. For this Phillipa Soo of Hamilton fame was in the title role of Amelie. The last stop of this show, for now, was Broadway: the show opened with previews beginning March 9th, 2017, and the official opening was April 3rd, 2017. The show closed on May 21st, 2017 after 27 previews and 56 performances. Plot We are first introduced to young Amelie and her family (Times Are Hard For Dreamers/Prologue). Hadestown This week’s blog is dedicated to a show that not many people have heard of based on the poll. It’s called Hadestown. Hadestown is the fourth album by Anais Mitchell, and it follows the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. The show is about Orpheus who has to save his wife Eurydice from Hades. Act 1 The show opens in a depression era post-apocalyptic setting. The show opens with the three Fates describing the setting and introduce the characters. The next scene leaves Orpheus and Eurydice, who introduce themselves to each other. He wants to marry her, but she is hesitant because they both live in poverty, but he says his music can provide for her. Next Orpheus tells us the story of Hades and Persephone. Persephone enters to celebrate the summer with Orpheus and Eurydice. He makes a toast and expresses hope for his future with Eurydice. Winter comes and a train comes to take Persephone back to Hadestown. The other two watch as she voices her misery at having to

Sunday In The Park with Geroge was revied in 2016 I believe, but the cast recording came out recently. It stared Jake Gyllenhaal and Annaleigh Ashford as George and Dot/Marie respectively. This was the first time I had heard the full show. I really like the opening! I really feel like it sets the tone well. I should say that I don't really know this show all that well. I love Sunday In The Park With George and the way that Annaleigh sings it! Annaleigh's vibrato though! Ok, so that fast section at the end? I love it so much. No Life: I really like it, not as much as the first two songs, but I do enjoy it. The singers sing it really well! Hey everyone Steph here! It's been a while since I've updated you all on what I'm reading Every day The Night Circus  by Erin Morgenstern 84% done. Page 430/512. I love this book a lot, I feel that it's a lesser known book that not many people have read. It's right up my alley, and I think that the last  100 pages will make the slower parts of the book worth it. Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee 84% done. Page 307/367. This is a little known Indie novel that came out in June  of this year. I just adore it, maybe because I love web series, and this book is about a web series. Tash and Her friends are delightful characters. It might also be that I see a lot of  myself in Tash. I am trying to extending this book, as it's one of my favorite  books I've read.
