A Not So Ordinary Life Prologue.

I've deiced that I'm going to post some of my novel online, just some favorite chapters that I wrote. This is the Prologue.
 Date: January sixth, 2000

Scarlett wasn’t sure what she was going to do now, she didn’t know in a city of millions of people both tourist and locals alike she didn’t know what she was going to do. Scarlett was late that month, she knew this because she had to keep track of things because she was the black sheep in her family anyway. As the daughter of a doctor, an OBGYN as a matter of fact and a Public Relations person for the mayor's office in New York City she was always in the spotlight. Most of the time she didn’t care, as a matter of fact, she liked the attention but what she didn’t like was being treated like the black sheep because of the way that she was. Scarlett Grace Adams didn’t follow the plan that was set out for her, and in this plan, she was supposed to have a high paying job one that she would help people with, the trick was that she needed to be some kind of a doctor or a lawyer of some kind. Honestly, Scarlett knew from an early age that she wasn’t going to be the kind of person that her parents wanted her to be, and so she should have just embraced what was and take the fact that she would be treated differently. The thing of it was that she thought her parents would one day accept her, it was odd and it was something that she knew would never happen but she still thought that one day she would be accepted. Scarlett was someone that wanted things the way that she wanted, and she was one that was stubborn and only liked to live her the way that she wanted to live her life.

Nothing in her life had gone as planned, the way that her parents wanted anyway and so she from the time that she was young knew she was one that was different from her family. Scarlett was the youngest her family of 3 children and her parents, she has an older brother and an older sister her older siblings were the ones that stuck to the plan laid out. Her brother was a lawyer at a top firm in New York City, and her sister was a psychologist because she was one that always loved giving advice and helping people with their problems she had excellent listening skills and was one that always liked helping people. Scarlett on the other had was one that was always her own person; and one that thrived on being her own person and standing out so she was one that always liked being different. Her parents had always planned on their children following the carefully laid out plan that they had laid out for them because this was the plan that was laid out for them, by their parents who lived an upper-class life and so her parents were just continuing on what they were taught. Scarlett was one that never really followed the rules, and she had trouble with details usually seeing the big picture of things not really focusing on the details of things. From the time that she was young she was seen as a rebel in the eyes of her family, and so she had to try and be the best person she could be as a daughter living in the public eye.

Scarlett couldn’t so see her mother about this; because that would just be something that would give her mother even more of a reason to just shut her out even more than she already did. Scarlett made an appointment with the OBGYN and yes she was pregnant with twins, she was twenty years old and she was going to college. Now she was doing some reflection, she didn’t know what she was going to do and she needed a plan but first she would need to tell her family. Her family, the black sheep of the family having a baby let alone two babies, she just wasn't sure how they were going to take this the thing of it was that she knew, she knew what they were going to say. As of right now, her life was not in the right place to have kids, she at least knew that she knew that she didn’t want these two kids as she could barely take care of herself, and she didn’t want to give up her party girl lifestyle for longer than she would have to. Scarlett was going to write a letter to her parents and her family about what was going on, she picked this method because didn’t think that they would listen to her all the way if she didn’t write it down.

Dear family
I Scarlett Grace Adams is pregnant with twins, I know I know this is so far from the plan that was laid out but have I never really followed the plan honestly think about that. Now before you ask me, no I don’t know who the father is it happened at a New Year's Eve party a few weeks ago I don’t even remember his name and I didn’t know him I have decided that I am going to give my daughters up for adoption as I know that I can’t have them right now. Now I know that this will affect you as much as it affects me and that people will talk about me as I walk around the streets of New York City so I know what you’re going to say. I am not sure what the next step in our relationship will be, but I have a feeling that this won’t change anything about the way that you see me as a person. Anyway I just wanted to tell you, and I thought this was the best way to do so and I didn’t think you would listen to me if I talked.
Love,
Scarlett

At around the same time that year Scarlett found out that she was having twins, in the Midwest Omaha Nebraska, as a matter of fact, Lucy and Grant Ellis were thinking about adding two new editions to their family, they had always wanted to add more children to their family but they wanted to adopt. Grant and Lucy had always wanted to have two kids, and then adopt between two and four more kids so they would have six children in their family, this was what they had always wanted to do so that they could give more kids a chance. They already had one daughter Natasha Jane Ellis who was 2, and Peter Allan Ellis who was a year old. Grant was an English professor at The University of Omaha and Lucy was a Fashion Designer, and she had a store in Omaha where she would sell her clothes as well as clothes from other designers. The Ellis family was very happy and as people would say normal, there was nothing really out of the ordinary about them and this was an environment that would be a good one. Grant and Lucy started the search of finding two more children to adopt, at least two but if they had found a family that had a sister that they didn’t want to split up the sisters. They weren’t sure how this would turn out for them, but they had always been the kind of people who tried everything no matter how hard it seemed, and no matter how long it would take to get it done they would just do it no matter what.

They had found Scarlett in New York City from the agency that they were working with, and so they knew right then and there that they wanted to adopt her two daughters, they had always in the back of their mind wanted twin daughters and so this was perfect. As far as names ago, Scarlett had already picked the names of the girls that she had picked out and Lucy and Grant wanted to do something to honor her and so they wouldn’t change their names. In Seattle Washington, they had found another mother much like Scarlett who was having another daughter, and she already had one and so they had already planned nine months from now to foster her daughters as well. This was exactly what they wanted two groups of sisters, and they would have the same amount of children that they had always dreamed of having. The daughter in Washington’s name was Eleanor, they called her Lenore which was a unique name and again they wanted to show some of their biological mother in their names, the one that would come along nine months from now when Phoebe and Lizzie were born was going to be named Lauren. As luck would have it they were both said to born in September Phoebe and Lizzie on the 15th, and Lauren on the 20th that way they weren’t that far apart in age, and Lenore would have people that she could be with that were closer to her age. Their family had started coming together, and they were elated because it was almost too perfect the way that their life was going, and the way that their family was coming together.

The next months of Scarlett’s life was a blur and with the family that was going to adopt her daughter's taken care of and she really liked the Ellis family, she did want to do an open adoption but she still wasn’t sure if that’s what she wanted. The fact that she could get letters about her daughters, and see how they grow up was something that was nice but she didn’t think that she could allow herself to do that to them. As she saw it if she couldn't be there every day of their lives to raising them, what was the point of having them in her life at all one day they would reach out she hoped so anyway. So next would come the babies coming out, and the Ellis family coming to New York City to pick up the girls, Scarlett was one that wanted to do this as quickly as possible yes she wasn’t the best mother she knew it. After four hours of labor, Elizabeth Jane Adams and Phoebe Juliet Adams were born, the Ellis family and Scarlett had decided to have the Ellis family foster the girls, just in case it didn’t work out or if something happened and Scarlett had decided that she did, in fact, want to be a mother now. When the Ellis family saw the girls that were just born, they knew that this would work out and hopefully they would one day be able to adopt Lizzie and Phoebe. The Ellis family took the girls back to Omaha they had already set up the nursery for them, as far as the arrangements would go the girls would live in the same room at least for the first few years of their lives.
