Among Us Readathon TBR!

Hi! The Among Us Readathon is next month for round 2. I had a great time in January so I’m going to do it again. One of the new rules this time is that you need to stay a crewmate or imposter for all the rounds after this one. I picked to be a crewmate because I enjoy doing the tasks and when I play the game, I prefer to be a crewmate. I picked purple because it’s dobale for me and because it’s my favorite color.  For more information on the readathon and the tasks for every crewmate or imposter, check out the main info page-  here . PURPLE CREWMATE (4 books)   Enter ID Code OR Fix Wiring: a standalone or a sequel I picked Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon for this. I have been loving this YA Contemporary so far. It has potential to be a favorite read of the year and is definitely a favorite read of the quarter.     Unlock Manifolds: a book at the bottom of your tbr (a low priority book)   Working On A Song: The Lyrics of Hadestown by Anais Mitchell was pi

Call Me Athena: A Girl from Detroit by Colby Cedar Smith (E-ARC Review)

Overview Hi! I got this from Net Galley Read Now a while back and I really enjoyed it. I didn’t fully understand that this novel was in verse until after I started it, but I was enjoying the story, and so I wanted to finish to see where it would go. This was my first time reading a book in this style, and I want to look into it more because I think I would enjoy it. Read on to see my thoughts. There is an author’s note at the end of the book which reveals that this was inspired by the author's family and I loved that.  Goodreads Info Title: Call Me Athena: A Girl from Detroit Author: Colby Cedar Smith Genre: YA, Historical Fiction Expected Publication: August 17 th , 2021 by Andrews McMeel Publishing Rating: 4  stars Add to Goodreads:  here   What I enjoyed Characters One of my favorite things about this story was the characters. The purpose of this meme is to highlight books, usually unpublished, that we can't wait to read.  Title: How Moon Fuentez Fell in Love with the Universe Author: Raquel Vasquez Gilliland Expected Publication: August, 10 th , 2021 Goodreads Summary The Hating Game meets I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter in this irresistible romance starring a Mexican American teen who discovers love and profound truths about the universe when she spends her summer on a road trip across the country.   When her twin sister reaches social media stardom, Moon Fuentez accepts her fate as the ugly, unwanted sister hidden in the background, destined to be nothing more than her sister’s camera

Top Ten Tuesday- Books I could read in a day

Hi! Jana hosts Top Ten Tuesday @ thatartsyreadergirl . The purpose of this meme is to bring the book blogging community together and foster our love of lists. Each week, Jana will post a prompt, and we readers get the opportunity to reply with our list. We also have the opportunity to go rogue and do our own thing. This week’s prompt was books I’ve read in a day or could read in a day if I had the time. I’m a moderately fast reader, but there are some books that I could read in a day if I found the time. I did read these books in 2 weeks or under I believe.    1- Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills   This is one of my favorite YA Contemporaries. I could read it in a day because I love the characters, plot, and the fact that they do theatre in the story. This is one of my favorite comfort reads, and I reread it recently. This book still holds up even though it had been a few years since I read the book for the first time.   2- Tweet Cute by Emma Lord   I read this on vacation down the shore

Top Ten Tuesday- Eight Reasons I enjoy reading

Hi! Jana hosts Top Ten Tuesday  @ thatartsyreadergirl. This meme was born put a love of lists, and bringing the book blogging community together. Each Week, Jana will post a prompt and we bloggers will make a list based on that prompt. We also have the option to go rogue and do our own thing. This week, our topic is reasons I love reading. I went with eight instead of my usual ten. 1- The escape I know that this might be others reason for reading, but real life is a lot. I love reading because it offers me the opportunity to escape and be taken away from my real-life troubles for a while.  2-Finding new characters to love I love finding a new book filled with new characters that I can call my friends. I know that sounds cheesy, but I’ve always been one that loved to meet all the characters in my favorite books. My favorite characters to meet are the ones that are bookish or ones that have a passion for theatre or music. Once I find a character, I love finding out more about

July 2021 TBR!

Hi! It’s a new month, so I thought I would tell you all what books I’m reading this month. Physical Books 1-The Assassins Blade by Sarah J. Maas- 38 % done These are short stories set in the Throne of Glass Universe and follow the main character of that series before you meet her in the main series. I am enjoying the stories, some more than others. At the time, I want to get back to the main series as well. I love the series so far, and I can’t wait to see what happens in the third book. 2-Hamilton and Peggy A Revolutionary Friendship by L. M. Elliott (reread)- 18% done This is the last reread for my Hamilton project. When I read it a few years ago, I rated it four stars and commented on the pacing issues. I say a four- five-star rating this time because I’ve read other books that have similar pacing issues. I am enjoying the story and Peggy as a character just as much as I did the first time I read it. 3-With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo- 21% done I’ve had this book on my t

June 2021 Wrap up!

Hi! With another month over, I wanted to wrap up all the books I read last month. I had a great reading month, with most of my reads being 5 stars. Read on to see what I read and see my star ratings. * denotes a favorite read of the month.   Physical Books 1- Kate In Waiting by Becky Albertalli- 5 stars (*****)   I finished the last 40 or so pages of this on June first. I loved this book so much and was smiling the whole time. This book was filled with funny moments and also some very serious moments.   2- * One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston–5 stars (*****)   Oh, my goodness I loved this book so much. The mix of Sci-fi and Contemporary Romance was just what I look for in a summer read. The romance was sweet and the characters were so much fun to read.   3- * Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid -5 stars (*****) This book has a bit of a story with it. Amazon told me that the post office, not a local one, had probably lost the book and that I could get a

Mid-Year Freak-Out Book Tag-2021

Hi! It’s crazy that it’s already time to do the 2021 Mid-Year Freak out tag! At the time of writing this post, I’ve read 59/50 books so far this year! This is the most I’ve read in a year, and I’m so excited about that. This book tag is co-created by Ely @ here and Chami @ here . I copied the questions from Jess @ here .     Best book you’ve read so far in 2021 Picking only one best book so far is hard because I’ve read some fantastic books. I’m taking notes on my digital tracking sheet just for the purpose of tracking my favorite books.  I have four because I can’t just pick one. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab, This Will Be Funny Someday by Katie Henry, Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales, and Kate In Waiting by Becky Albertalli. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2021 I’ve read a few second books in series this year but only one that was actually a sequel. Rule of Wolves (King of Scars # 2) by Leigh Bardugo would be my favorite even if I had read over
