Mid-Year Freak-Out Book Tag-2021

Hi! It’s crazy that it’s already time to do the 2021 Mid-Year Freak out tag! At the time of writing this post, I’ve read 59/50 books so far this year! This is the most I’ve read in a year, and I’m so excited about that. This book tag is co-created by Ely @here and Chami @here. I copied the questions from Jess @here.

Best book you’ve read so far in 2021

Picking only one best book so far is hard because I’ve read some fantastic books. I’m taking notes on my digital tracking sheet just for the purpose of tracking my favorite books.  I have four because I can’t just pick one. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab, This Will Be Funny Someday by Katie Henry, Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales, and Kate In Waiting by Becky Albertalli.

Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2021

I’ve read a few second books in series this year but only one that was actually a sequel. Rule of Wolves (King of Scars # 2) by Leigh Bardugo would be my favorite even if I had read over one actual sequel. I know it was the end of the series but I thought this was one of the best books in the series as a whole.

New release you haven’t read yet but want to

I wrote a blog post about this a few weeks ago. You can find that post here.  From this list, I most want to read-Once Upon A Quinceañera by Monica Gomez-Hira, Take Me Home Tonight by Morgan Matson, We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This by Rachel Lynn Solomon, and The Other Side of Perfect by Mariko Turk.

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

This was another topic for Top Ten Tuesday, so I have a blog post -here. From this list, I can’t wait for Here’s To Us (What If It’s Us # 2) by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera, As If On Cue by Marisa Kanter, If This Gets Our By Sophie Gonzales and Cale Dietrich, and Daughter of the Deep by Rick Riordan.

Biggest disappointment

I don’t really have a book that disappointed me, I would say. The closeting thing is that I didn’t enjoy Anne of Green Gables as much as I would have liked to.

Biggest surprise

I had two books that I was really surprised by how much I loved them. The first is Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas because it’s not really my vibe, but I really enjoyed the culture and the story. The other one is a middle-grade mystery called Fearless (Fearless Series Book # 1) by Mandy Gonzalez. This was a book I picked up because I enjoy supporting Broadway Actors when they write books. This also could have been on my favorites list, but I knew I wanted to use it here. I was also surprised by Don’t Read The Comments because while I enjoy watching video games, I’m more of a casual player, and I wasn’t sure how much into the playing of video games the book would go into.

Favourite new author (debut or new to you)

This is tough because I have a lot of new to me authors I read this year. I have to mention Mandy Gonzalez, who I mentioned above again. Sophie Gonzales because I really enjoyed Perfect on Paper and I want to read more of her work. Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas took me by surprise so I need to mention them as a favorite new to me author.  Crystal Maldonado who wrote Fat Chance Charlie Vega because this was one of my favorite books I’ve read and I can’t wait to read more. I am loving Chanel Cleeton, and so I have to mention her here as well.

Newest fictional crush

I’m not really one that gets crushes.

Newest favourite character

Wow, this is really hard to narrow down to just a few. Addie from The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, Izzy from This Will Be Funny Someday, Darcy from Perfect on Paper, Kate from Kate in Waiting, Monica from Fearless, and Charlie from Fat Chance Charlie Vega.

Book that made you cry

I cried so much reading The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak.

Book that made you happy

So many books have made me happy this year. All the books I mentioned in this tag.

Most beautiful book you’ve bought or received so far this year

Rule of Wolves and The Lives of the Saints both by Leigh Bardugo. Also, A Court of Sliver Flames by Sarah J. Maas.

Which books do you need to read by the end of the year?

I have many books I would like to read by the end of the year. Any book mentioned in the linked blog posts, as well as a few I own, and some backlist books I would like to buy.

Comments

The Sunday Post!

Welcome back! Today I am taking part in the weekly memes  The Sunday Post hosted by caffeinatedbookreviewer and Stacking The Shelves hosted by .tyngasreviews . I have had a great time coming up with the updates for these posts in the last few weeks and so I will keep doing them. Life This week was crazy for me because I had a a work blog due. I got some read in and I got a new chapter up for my fanfic. Yesterday, we spent a lot of time in the backyard and shoveling stone for the yard. Read I just finished China Rich Girlfriend earlier today! All For One Alex &Eliza #3 is still so much fun and I think it is my favorite book of the trilogy still. Currently, I am on page 184/391 I read some The Princess and the Fangirl and I am 50% done. Rather than pushing it for the next few days, I deci...

Top Ten Tuesday- characters that remind me of myself

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! This is a weekly meme where readers discuss ten or whatever number you would like to have based on a prompt. Our host is Jana at  thatartsyreadergirl . Our topic this week is Characters Like Myself. I am going to take a two words that each character has in in my opinion,  and discuss how that relates to me  as well. 1- Cather Avery from Fangirl Writer- At her core, Cath is a writer, and she loves her stories. I am a writer of both Fan Fiction and original stories like Cath so this was an automatic in for this. Both of us love our work and we tend to through ourselves whole hardheartedly into our work. Sisters- I might have mentioned this on the blog before but I have a younger sister and we’re only roughly 18 months a part. Cath and her twin sister Wren are polar  opposites and this is me and my sister. My younger sister is an extrovert and into science. I on the other hand,  am an introverted creative bookworm.  ...

Top Ten Tuesday books/ series I would recommend to someone who says don’t like to read.

Hi! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana @ thatartsyreadergirl . This weekly meme was born out of a love of lists and bringing the book blogging community together. Each week, Jana will post a topic, and we will all make a list based on that topic. This week, the topic is Books Written Before I Was Born ( These can be books you’ve read or want to read! ) ( submitted by Davida Chazan @ The Chocolate Lady’s Book Review Blog ). I wasn’t feeling this, and so I went through and found a post from The Broke & the Bookish, and I did that. The original post can  be found here . I thought I would recommend some books from some of my favorite genres.   The Classics 1- Pride & Prejudice This is one of my favorite classics, and when making my list this week, I knew I needed to include it. The reason is that I think this is one of the best books by Jane Austen, and we use the story in a lot of modern media. 2- To Kill A Mocking Bird I was so surprised by how much...
