Top Ten Tuesday- Freebie- LGBTQ+ reads for Pride Month

Hi! Happy Pride! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @thatartsyreadergirl. This meme was born out of a love of lists and bringing the book blogging community together. Each week, Jana posts a prompt, and we book bloggers are challenged to write a response to that topic. There is also the option of doing our own thing and doing what we want. This week it is a freebie, and because June is Pride Month, I thought I would feature my favorite LGTBQ+ reads.

Gay

1- Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

I discuss this book a lot on this blog but I love Simon and Bram in this book. I think the relationship is so sweet, even if they have a bit of a rocky start. The supporting characters are what make this book what it is.

2- Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

I feel like many people have met Alex and Henry by now. If you haven’t, I recommend this New Adult romance following the son of the female president and the prince of England. This is an enemies-to-lovers story and the romance is swoon-worthy. I’m looking forward to reading Casey McQuistion’s novel One Last Stop this month.

3- What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera

We’re getting a second book this year and I’m so glad. I love this book, and I can’t wait to see where the story goes. The romance is sweet, and they filled the book with theatre references.

4- The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune

This is one of the few adult novels on this list. I finished this book the other day, and I absolutely loved it. As I feel a lot of other reads can relate to, I was reading too many books at once, so I got distracted by other books. I loved this story and it’s such a feel-good story about finding yourself.

5- Check Please Ngozi Ukazu

I need to read the second book in this graphic novel series. The first one was so cute. I don’t really like hockey, but I loved following Bitty and his team. The romance in here is also incredibly sweet.

6- Kate in Waiting by Becky Albertalli

I plan on finishing this book today. I’ve enjoyed this book so much and I plan to put it on my favorite’s shelf. This book features a bit of a love triangle but ends up with an MLM relationship.

Lesbian & WLW

7- The Prom by Saundra Mitchell

This novel had drama following it from the E-ARC. Luckily, the voices were heard, and they changed the main issue back to the original intent. The novel itself is fine, I would recommend the audiobook because the two stars of the Broadway Production read it. Honestly, if you want the best experience with the story, just listen to the cast recording, then read the book, and watch the movie. You can do the last two in either order, however; I recommend starting with the musical because that is the best place to start the experience.

8- The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I almost forgot about this book when I was typing up my list. The romance in this book is top-notch, and I remember reading this book and smiling from ear to ear. I just loved Evelyn and Celia.

9- Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli

While I prefer Simon’s book, I reread this last year, and I enjoyed it more the second time. I think Leah is a tough character, but she has a softer side when she’s with Abby. I think my biggest pet peeve is that there so was much build-up, and the end of the story was a bit underwhelming for me personally.

Ace

10- Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Katheryn Ormsbee

I’m going to reread this during June! I loved this book when I first read it a few years ago and I want to see if that love still holds up. I loved the main character in this book so much.

  2. I love this topic! Simon and What If It's Us were favorites of mine too! Kate in Waiting and Leah On The Offbeat are on my TBR- hoping to read them soon! I didn't realize The Seven Husbands had an LGBTQ theme, but that makes me want to read it even more. I recently read Written in The Stars by Alexandria Bellefleur and highly recommend it!

Top Ten Tuesday- characters that remind me of myself

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! This is a weekly meme where readers discuss ten or whatever number you would like to have based on a prompt. Our host is Jana at  thatartsyreadergirl . Our topic this week is Characters Like Myself. I am going to take a two words that each character has in in my opinion,  and discuss how that relates to me  as well. 1- Cather Avery from Fangirl Writer- At her core, Cath is a writer, and she loves her stories. I am a writer of both Fan Fiction and original stories like Cath so this was an automatic in for this. Both of us love our work and we tend to through ourselves whole hardheartedly into our work. Sisters- I might have mentioned this on the blog before but I have a younger sister and we’re only roughly 18 months a part. Cath and her twin sister Wren are polar  opposites and this is me and my sister. My younger sister is an extrovert and into science. I on the other hand,  am an introverted creative bookworm.  2- Miriam Kendrick from C

Top Ten Tuesday- Favorite Books of the Year Part 1 (12-21)

Hi! Jana hosts Top Ten Tuesday @ thatartsyreadergirl . The purpose of this meme was to bring the book blogging community together and foster our love of lists. Each week, Jana posts a topic, and we readers respond based on that prompt. This week our topic is a freebie, so I decided to make my list of my top ten reads part one.   Middle Grade 12- Never After by Melissa de la Cruz I'm almost done with this book. It's a duology, and I loved the new twist on fairy tales.    YA 13- Don’t Read the Comments by Eric Smith I read this early in the year and it stuck with me. This YA Contemporary about gaming and the culture of the gaming industry was fantastic.  14- The Book Thief by Markus Zusak It took me years to read this book but I really enjoyed it. I love the unique narrator, the characters, and the story.  15- The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas This is another backlist release. I loved this book, and I knew when I read it that it had the potential to be on this list. I still thi

2019 Book Resolutions Tag!

Hey everyone! So Thursdays on the blog I am going to post a new tag. I think tags are so much fun, and I enjoy the time to reflect on what I’ve read in the past, or what I want to read. Images come from Goodreads. I grabbed the questions from  this blog 1. An author you’d like to read (that you’ve never read before). Leigh Bardugo! I have heard such great things about the Grisha verse, so I want to see if it lives up to all the hype. I have a feeling it will, and I am intrigued by the world. I got the first three books in the series as one large Ebook , so I ’m going to start that next month. I can’t wait to go on the journey and be immersed in a new series!  2. A book you’d like to read. Romanov by Nadine Brandes I love Anastasia and the Romanov family. This looks like such a fantastic retelling. I am drawn in just reading the blurb on Goodreads.  3. A classic you’d like to read. A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I’ve had the Barnes and Nobel edition of
