Hello! I wanted to take time tonight to talk about the books on my TBR for February. I will discuss the challenges and naming the Facebook groups if you would like to join as well. Summaries from Goodreads. Images are also from Goodreads.
The Wicked King by Holly Black (Hardcover)
Publication Date: January 8,2019
On page 88/336.
This is a continuation from January.
You must be strong enough to strike and strike and strike again without tiring.
The first lesson is to make yourself strong.
After the jaw-dropping revelation that Oak is the heir to Faerie, Jude must keep her younger brother safe. To do so, she has bound the wicked king, Cardan, to her, and made herself the power behind the throne. Navigating the constantly shifting political alliances of Faerie would be difficult enough if Cardan were easy to control. But he does everything in his power to humiliate and undermine her even as his fascination with her remains undiminished.
When it becomes all too clear that someone close to Jude means to betray her, threatening her own life and the lives of everyone she loves, Jude must uncover the traitor and fight her own complicated feelings for Cardan to maintain control as a mortal in a Faerie world
I love this book so far and for me; it is better than the first. I didn't think it was possible. I love this world and these characters.
Check, Please! #Hockey Vol. 1 by Ngozi Ukazu (BuzzFeed Page Turners - A book by a black author) (Ebook)
Publication Date: September 18, 2018
Eric Bittle may be a former junior figure skating champion, vlogger extraordinaire, and very talented amateur pâtissier, but being a freshman on the Samwell University hockey team is a whole new challenge. It is nothing like co-ed club hockey back in Georgia! First of all? There’s checking (anything that hinders the player with possession of the puck, ranging from a stick check all the way to a physical sweep). And then, there is Jack—his very attractive but moody captain.
A collection of the first half, freshmen and sophomore year, of the megapopular webcomic series of the same name, Check, Please!: #Hockey is the first book of a hilarious and stirring two-volume coming-of-age story about hockey, bros, and trying to find yourself during the best four years of your life. This book includes updated art and a hilarious, curated selection of Bitty's beloved tweets.
Why it's on the listI read a bit of this webcomic but with my vision it was tough. I was so happy when I found out this would be a Graphic Novel. I am intrigued by the plotline as I love skating. Also, I have heard this is m/m and I am so here for this. I can't wait to get started.

Little Women has been one of my favorite classics for a few years now. I have been anticipating this book for a long time, and I can't wait to start reading it. Judging by the cover, I love the art that is featured in this book. I can't wait to see how this story translates to the modern world! I read a few pages of this and I loved what I read.
Enchantée by Gita Trelease. (Year of Epic Reads- an adventure book.) (Ebook).
Expected Publication Date- February 5, 2019
When smallpox kills her parents, Camille Durbonne must find a way to provide for her frail, naive sister while managing her volatile brother. Relying on petty magic—la magie ordinaire—Camille painstakingly transforms scraps of metal into money to buy the food and medicine they need. But when the coins won’t hold their shape and her brother disappears with the family’s savings, Camille must pursue a richer, more dangerous mark: the glittering court of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.
With dark magic forbidden by her mother, Camille transforms herself into the ‘Baroness de la Fontaine’ and is swept up into life at the Palace of Versailles, where aristocrats both fear and hunger for la magie. There, she gambles at cards, desperate to have enough to keep herself and her sister safe. Yet the longer she stays at court, the more difficult it becomes to reconcile her resentment of the nobles with the enchantments of Versailles. And when she returns to Paris, Camille meets a handsome young balloonist—who dares her to hope that love and liberty may both be possible.
But la magie has its costs. And when Camille loses control of her secrets, the game she's playing turns deadly. Then revolution erupts, and she must choose—love or loyalty, democracy or aristocracy, freedom or magic—before Paris burns…
Why it's on the list
I love this story just from reading the summary! This story seems so magical and I am so excited to get lost in the world of Paris. I love Historical Fiction and this seems like a great story.
Comics Will Break Your Heart by Faith Erin Hicks (Ebook)
Expected Publication Date: February 12, 2019
Miriam's family should be rich. After all, her grandfather was the co-creator of smash-hit comics series The TomorrowMen. But he sold his rights to the series to his co-creator in the 1960s for practically nothing, and now that's what Miriam has: practically nothing. And practically nothing to look forward to either-how can she afford college when her family can barely keep a roof above their heads? As if she didn't have enough to worry about, Miriam's life gets much more complicated when a cute boy shows up in town . . . and turns out to be the grandson of the man who defrauded Miriam's grandfather, and heir to the TomorrowMen fortune.
In her endearing debut novel, cartoonist Faith Erin Hicks pens a sensitive and funny Romeo and Juliet tale about modern romance, geek royalty, and what it takes to heal the long-festering scars of the past (Spoiler Alert: love)
Why It's on the list
This book looks fantastic. I'm a nerd at heart and I can't wait to read this original story about comics. The plot seems unique. I look forward to this Romeo and Juliet style story of star-crossed lovers with a twist.
What is on your TBR for this month? Have you read any of these? Let me know!
