Hi! Today I’m going to share my review for Barakah Beats. I read this book in September and I really enjoyed it. I received a paperback copy of the novel for review, but this doesn’t affect my opinions on the book as a whole. All information comes from Goodreads.

Rating: 5 stars (*****)

One of my favorite things in this book was the characters. I loved how they were crafted and how each of the characters were crafted in the novel. Each of the characters played off each other; and how they made each other better people. By the end of reading this book, I really thought the characters grew as people, and they learned about themselves. I also loved that the characters learned that they needed to follow their passions for them.

Another fantastic element of this book was the plot. I always love books that have a music element or have music as an element in some way. This book was about a girl who joined a band to get her best friend back. I loved this because I love seeing people come together and finding something, they all love together. I also loved how there was interactions with non-band members. The subplot of this book was Nimra’s family not wanting her to pursue her passion for art, but in the end, she convinced them it was what she wanted.

I loved the writing in this book. I felt like the tone really helped to tell the story well. The lighter scenes were funny because of the writing. Going hand in hand with that, the heavier scenes in the book were also fantastic because of the writing tone. I will read more books by this author because I enjoyed the writing style.

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know that I love books with friendships. This book had several fantastic friendship elements I enjoyed. The first was the one between Nimra and Waleed, Matthew, Bilal, and Khadijah, the band Barakah Beats, and the sister of one member. This friendship was fantastic because they all helped each other out and when Nimra was new at school, they didn’t judge her, and they invited her to join the band after hearing her praying. Nimra also had a best friend, Jenna, who Nimra joined the band to get back. Nimra and Jenna reconciled in end and this made me happy. Julie was one of Jenna’s friends who was rude to Nimra on her first day, and they got to be friends, which made me happy.

The last star in this review is for enjoyment. I really had a great time reading this book. The book was fun and also emotional and serious at times.

I am a writer of both Fan Fiction and original stories like Cath so this was an automatic in for this. Both of us love our work and we tend to through ourselves whole hardheartedly into our work. Sisters- I might have mentioned this on the blog before but I have a younger sister and we’re only roughly 18 months a part. Cath and her twin sister Wren are polar  opposites and this is me and my sister. My younger sister is an extrovert and into science. I on the other hand,  am an introverted creative bookworm.  2- Miriam Kendrick from C

2019 Book Resolutions Tag!

Hey everyone! So Thursdays on the blog I am going to post a new tag. I think tags are so much fun, and I enjoy the time to reflect on what I’ve read in the past, or what I want to read. Images come from Goodreads. I grabbed the questions from  this blog 1. An author you’d like to read (that you’ve never read before). Leigh Bardugo! I have heard such great things about the Grisha verse, so I want to see if it lives up to all the hype. I have a feeling it will, and I am intrigued by the world. I got the first three books in the series as one large Ebook , so I ’m going to start that next month. I can’t wait to go on the journey and be immersed in a new series!  2. A book you’d like to read. Romanov by Nadine Brandes I love Anastasia and the Romanov family. This looks like such a fantastic retelling. I am drawn in just reading the blurb on Goodreads.  3. A classic you’d like to read. A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I’ve had the Barnes and Nobel edition of
