Top Ten Tuesday- YA Contemporary Fiction!

Hi! I know I say every week that I will try to make more posts here. This week, I want to get one or two more posts up about how I'm spending my time right now. Anyway. Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana @thatartsyreadergirl. This meme shares a love of books and lists and bringing the book blogging community together. This week, the prompt is a Genre Freebie, and I wanted to highlight some YA contemporaries I've loved over the last few years.

1- Fangirl

You all know about my love for this book so I will keep this short. I love Cath and I deeply related to her and her story.  I recommend this book to anyone who loves fandom.

2- Comics Will Break Your Heart

This was a book I talked a lot about last year. Like Fangirl, I related to the main character Miriam and her story. I loved Weldon because he was so sweet.

3- Tash Hearts Tolstoy

I loved this book the year it came out. The story follows Tash, a teenager who makes a web series based on Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy.  Tasha was a character I loved because she was a lot like me.

4- Foolish Hearts

If you've followed me for a while, you know that I loved this book. The references to theater brought me so much joy.

5- Geekerlla

Elle and Darin were so sweet and I loved their story. This book was full of fandom and heart and I just adored the plot. Their romance was sweet and their care so much for each other.

6- Dear Evan Hansen: The Young Adult Novel

I'm such a fan of the music and lyrics of Dear Evan Hansen. My problem with the story, and maybe I'll do another post with my opinion on the show. I did really love this novel and all the added content with Conor and Miguel. If you enjoy the musical, you would enjoy the YA novel as well.

7-Yes, No, Maybe So

This was a recent read that I loved. Maya and Jamie were so sweet and I loved them.

8- Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda

Simon and Blue are so sweet. The side characters were also gems, and I love Leah and Abby. If you've read the book, I also recommend the movie.

9- What If It’s Us

This was one of my favorite reads last year! The couple was sweet, and they filled it with deep-cut theater references. If you like Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda, I would recommend this book for anyone.

10- The Princess and the Fangirl

I love this companion novel for Geekerlla. I was not the biggest fan of Jess in Geekerella, but I now at least more f her story. Imogen is a gem.

  2. I loved Fangirl and honestly could use more books like that. Slice of life contemporaries, especially ones that look at the college years!

Top Ten Tuesday- characters that remind me of myself

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! This is a weekly meme where readers discuss ten or whatever number you would like to have based on a prompt. Our host is Jana at  thatartsyreadergirl . Our topic this week is Characters Like Myself. I am going to take a two words that each character has in in my opinion,  and discuss how that relates to me  as well. 1- Cather Avery from Fangirl Writer- At her core, Cath is a writer, and she loves her stories. I am a writer of both Fan Fiction and original stories like Cath so this was an automatic in for this. Both of us love our work and we tend to through ourselves whole hardheartedly into our work. Sisters- I might have mentioned this on the blog before but I have a younger sister and we’re only roughly 18 months a part. Cath and her twin sister Wren are polar  opposites and this is me and my sister. My younger sister is an extrovert and into science. I on the other hand,  am an introverted creative bookworm.  ...

Top Ten Tuesday books/ series I would recommend to someone who says don’t like to read.

Hi! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana @ thatartsyreadergirl . This weekly meme was born out of a love of lists and bringing the book blogging community together. Each week, Jana will post a topic, and we will all make a list based on that topic. This week, the topic is Books Written Before I Was Born ( These can be books you’ve read or want to read! ) ( submitted by Davida Chazan @ The Chocolate Lady’s Book Review Blog ). I wasn’t feeling this, and so I went through and found a post from The Broke & the Bookish, and I did that. The original post can  be found here . I thought I would recommend some books from some of my favorite genres.   The Classics 1- Pride & Prejudice This is one of my favorite classics, and when making my list this week, I knew I needed to include it. The reason is that I think this is one of the best books by Jane Austen, and we use the story in a lot of modern media. 2- To Kill A Mocking Bird I was so surprised by how much...
