Top Ten Tuesday books/ series I would recommend to someone who says don’t like to read.


 


Hi! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana @thatartsyreadergirl. This weekly meme was born out of a love of lists and bringing the book blogging community together. Each week, Jana will post a topic, and we will all make a list based on that topic. This week, the topic is Books Written Before I Was Born (These can be books you’ve read or want to read!) (submitted by Davida Chazan @ The Chocolate Lady’s Book Review Blog). I wasn’t feeling this, and so I went through and found a post from The Broke & the Bookish, and I did that. The original post can be found here. I thought I would recommend some books from some of my favorite genres.

 

The Classics

1- Pride & Prejudice

This is one of my favorite classics, and when making my list this week, I knew I needed to include it. The reason is that I think this is one of the best books by Jane Austen, and we use the story in a lot of modern media.

2- To Kill A Mocking Bird

I was so surprised by how much I loved this book. I would recommend this because it is a classic, but at times, it reads like a story ahead of its time.

3- Jane Eyre

 

Another one of my favorite classics needed to make the list. I would hand/ recommend this book because of the mysterious, and gothic vibes the book has. I think a non-reader would like those if they could get into the story.

YA

4- Foolish Hearts

 

This book came out in more recent years, but I just love it. I think someone who doesn’t read would like this because the plot is easy to follow, and the characters are memorable.  

5- The Hunger Games

 

I loved The Hunger Games series growing up. I think a non-reader would love them because it’s dystopian, and they are action packed. 

6- Fangirl

Everyone probably thought that my favorite YA book would end up on this list. Again, this book is easy to follow because of the plot, and the characters are memorable. I feel a non-reader could relate to Cath’s love of fandom in some way.

7- The Lunar Chronicles

For a reader that would want some Sci-Fi and Dystopia, I would recommend/ hand this one. I devoured the four major books in this trilogy last year. The books are action-packed, and it has an array of characters.

Adult

8- Red, White & Royal Blue

I read this book last summer, and I fell in love with it. I would recommend this because it has political and personal drama, and it talks about love. This is also a book that would diversify the non-readers list because it is m/m romance.   

9- In A Holidaze

I loved this book so much last December. I would recommend this/ hand it to a non-reader because Groundhog Day is a known movie, and so they would have some background. I think they would enjoy the plot and the characters as well.

Middle Grade

10- Percy Jackson and anything in that universe

 Who says that you need to be 10-13 to read Middle Grade? I read several books as an adult, and I loved them so much. These books have action, and a large cast with some diversity.

    I love MG books! I still need to finish the PJ series but hopefully I can do that this year.

    So many good ones! I love Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre and Percy Jackson and Fangirl. Lunar Chronicles is high up on my TBR. :) Great post!

    I really enjoyed the Hunger Games when I (finally!!!!) read them a couple years ago! And I need to read Austen.

    Great list! I definitely agree about Pride and Prejudice - I really want to reread that now!

      I might toss it on my tbr for this year. It's been years since I've read it. I might pair it with the Lizzie Bennet book for two rereads.

Top Ten Tuesday- characters that remind me of myself

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! This is a weekly meme where readers discuss ten or whatever number you would like to have based on a prompt. Our host is Jana at  thatartsyreadergirl . Our topic this week is Characters Like Myself. I am going to take a two words that each character has in in my opinion,  and discuss how that relates to me  as well. 1- Cather Avery from Fangirl Writer- At her core, Cath is a writer, and she loves her stories. I am a writer of both Fan Fiction and original stories like Cath so this was an automatic in for this. Both of us love our work and we tend to through ourselves whole hardheartedly into our work. Sisters- I might have mentioned this on the blog before but I have a younger sister and we’re only roughly 18 months a part. Top Ten Tuesday - Unpopular Bookish opinions

Welcome Back! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by  thatartsyreadergirl . This week the top is unpopular bookish opinions, was submitted by Kaitlin Galvan at  somehowimanageablog . I don't think I have that many unpopular opinions, but We'll see if I can get to ten. I do not mean this to be a personal attack. I know some of these will get into beloved areas of book community, so take these as just my opinions. 1- I have only read one Harry Potter book, and will probably never read the rest. Yes, I know how odd this makes me sound. I was a Twilight kid, and I preferred those over Harry Potter. I have see all the movies, and I want to read Fantastic Beast, as I believe I will love that world and those characters more. 2- I hate mystery and horror novels.
