Top Ten Tuesday- Books or series to have in your Beach Bag



Hi! I took an unexpected hiatus last week.  Jana hosts the Top Ten Tuesday @.thatartsyreadergirl. Each week, Jana will post a topic and we book bloggers write a response to that prompt. We can have the option of going rogue and doing our own thing. This week, the topic was supposed to be book quotes about x theme, but I went rogue. This is Ten Books to have in your beach bag from years ago. 

Middle Grade

1- Fearless (Fearless Series Book 1) by Mandy Gonzalez

This was one of my favorite books this year as I’m sure you know because I’ve talked about it a lot. I think this would be a great read for teens or adults for the summer because there is a light mystery. While this might be better for the fall, I still think it’s a perfect summer read because it doesn’t take a long time to read.

2- The Chance to Fly by Ali Storker and Stacy Davidowitz

I loved this novel! This contemporary checked all my boxes, and I think that both teens and adults would love this. If you love theatre, this book is for you, it’s filled with theatre references and it made me so happy. This book also has great characters and a great story.

3- Rick Riordan Universe

Rick Riordan is an author who has many books.  I’ve read Percy Jackson and The Heroes of Olympus. If you’re just starting on your Rick Riordan journey, I recommend Percy Jackson as the series need to be read in order. Of the two I’ve read, I prefer Percy Jackson.

YA Contemporary

4- Kate in Waiting by Becky Albertalli

I’m currently in the middle of this and I just love it, It’s the perfect beach read because it’s a sweet story, and it has a theatre element. I love the characters and the romance in this.

5- 10 Blind Dates by Ashley Elston

Yes, I know that this is more of a Holiday read. I don’t believe you need to wait until that time of year. This novel has a sweet romance and the family dynamics are just a joy to read.

Adult Contemporary

6-The Brown Sisters by Talia Hibbert

I’ve only read Get A Life, Chloe Brown but I’m assuming that the other two have the same vibes. This is a sweet adult romance and I just loved it.

7- Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

I believe everyone has read this by now but in case you haven’t this book is excellent. It’s a New Adult LGBTQ+ M/M book about the female president’s son, and the prince falling in love. I was so here for this enemies to lovers romance.

YA Fantasy

8- The Grisha Verse by Leigh Bardugo

This is a recommendation for those that prefer YA Fantasy and would like a recommendation. These books are my favorite Fantasy series. You can read the first two in any order, but if you want to read the final Duolougy, you need to read the first two.

Historical Fiction 

9- The Perez family books (Next Year in Havana, When We Left Cuba, The Greatest Girl in Cuba) by Chanel Cleeton

I’ve only read the first two but I loved them. They were both so different, but I think that both stories are important and need to be told.

10- The Invisible Life Addie LaRue by V.E Schwab

I was not sure where to put this one as it’s both a Historical Fiction and a Contemporary Fiction but I picked here. I loved this book so much and I think it’s the perfect beach read.

    I love beach reads. I really gravitate towards fantasy in summer, and the Grishaverse is so hot right now! Percy Jackson sounds awesome also.

Top Ten Tuesday –Favorite Couples (Valentine’s Day /Love Freebie)

  Hi! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana @ thatartsyreadergirl. . This meme was born out of a love of lists and bringing the book blogging community together. I may have done a similar post last year, but I know that there are some new couples on this list.  1- Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy- Pride & Prejudice   This is the only classic couple on this list. Top Ten Tuesday - Top Ten Historical

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! Our Host is Jana @thatartsyreadergirl . Every week, readers gather and respond to the topic of  the week. This week, we are talking about Top Ten Books in our favorite genre. I love The Classics, YA of all kinds minus Horror and Mystery, and Historical. I choose Historical as I talk about Classics and YA a lot on this blog. These are in no order, just as they came to me. 1- Romanov  by Nadine Brandes I read this Anastasia retelling in nineteen days when it came out. I loved this book so much! About half the novel was the Romanov’s in exile, and their life in a house where they couldn’t do that much. As the story progresses, we see that Nastya is a spell master, so this is how Fantasy is sprinkled in with the Historical Fiction to tell a new story. I loved all aspects of this novel, even the ones that were sad, and almost caused me to throw this book across the room. I will review this book later on this month. I recommend this for any...
