Blogging Buddies- Guest Post!

Hi there, I am Chelle and I will be guest blogging today. I am a twenty-eight-year-old young woman who lives in a moderately sized market town in England. I suffer from multiple chronic pain conditions and mental health issues which is something that you need to know with what this blog post will be focussing on. I work part-time, volunteer for a youth group and my church (pre-pandemic). Around that I read, write, binge-watch tv online and scroll through social media or chat on Discord. This is where I met Steph, in a server for Books & Quills Magazine

My blog post is going to focus on reading, as Steph has a lovely book-themed blog I thought it was right to do so. Though more particularly it is going to focus on reading and building a solid reading habit whilst contending with chronic health issues.

Dealing with health issues on a daily basis isn’t fun in the twelve years I have had to contend with them, most of them unmedicated and undiagnosed, I found relief in my books and the fictional worlds that they transported me to. From Hogwarts to Narnia and even Middle Earth and lately to Erilea or Ravka I have loved the worlds that I was transported to, for a while I could just forget the world and the constant pain. That was until I struggled to hold my books because the pain had encroached on my hands.

When that happened I had to work something else out as I couldn’t cope with not reading. So now I tend to have, at least, two books on the go at all times. One is a physical copy of a book, and the other is an e-book that I read on my Amazon Fire tablet. I had always had a distinct dislike for e-books, as I adore the smell of books, old and new, I have always loved feeling the book in my hands and turning the pages, but needs must and I have come to like them, I will always prefer physical books if I can get away with them, but I am learning to love the accessibility of e-books.

When it comes to times of day I read, it tends to be in the morning or at night, especially if I am struggling to sleep. If I get to work early that is a time I read too, I constantly have a book in my bag in case the opportunity to read arises and it is serving me well.

I shall see how well this month as I am attempting to read 10 books in the month of March for a couple of readathons and readalongs, one of which is being held by the same group where I met Steph.

If you liked my rambling post you can find my blog here. Give me a follow, I hope to actually keep up to date.

Top Ten Tuesday- characters that remind me of myself

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! This is a weekly meme where readers discuss ten or whatever number you would like to have based on a prompt. Our host is Jana at  thatartsyreadergirl . Our topic this week is Characters Like Myself. I am going to take a two words that each character has in in my opinion,  and discuss how that relates to me  as well. 1- Cather Avery from Fangirl Writer- At her core, Cath is a writer, and she loves her stories. I am a writer of both Fan Fiction and original stories like Cath so this was an automatic in for this. Both of us love our work and we tend to through ourselves whole hardheartedly into our work. Sisters- I might have mentioned this on the blog before but I have a younger sister and we’re only roughly 18 months a part. Cath and her twin sister Wren are polar  opposites and this is me and my sister. My younger sister is an extrovert and into science. I on the other hand,  am an introverted creative bookworm.  ...

Top Ten Tuesday books/ series I would recommend to someone who says don’t like to read.

Hi! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana @ thatartsyreadergirl . This weekly meme was born out of a love of lists and bringing the book blogging community together. Each week, Jana will post a topic, and we will all make a list based on that topic. This week, the topic is Books Written Before I Was Born ( These can be books you’ve read or want to read! ) ( submitted by Davida Chazan @ The Chocolate Lady’s Book Review Blog ). I wasn’t feeling this, and so I went through and found a post from The Broke & the Bookish, and I did that. The original post can  be found here . I thought I would recommend some books from some of my favorite genres.   The Classics 1- Pride & Prejudice This is one of my favorite classics, and when making my list this week, I knew I needed to include it. The reason is that I think this is one of the best books by Jane Austen, and we use the story in a lot of modern media. 2- To Kill A Mocking Bird I was so surprised by how much...
