Summer Celebrations (Discussion) - Bookending Summer

Hi! Welcome to post two of Bookending summer. I would like to try to do one or two more than the required three. The hosts of this  event are Clo @bookdragons and Sam @fictionallysam. This prompt was posted by Erin  @bluestockingbookworm. The event is a way for blogger to interact and talk about books as well as have other discussions based on prompts.

Summer Celebrations

The first part of this prompt asks if there are any celebrations you personally take part in throughout the season. Memorial Day is the official start of summer, and even it is in the end of May, I still count it as part of the summer. Every year, we gather at my mother's for a BBQ which is always a good time. The Fourth of the July is also in the summer. Once again, we usually gather at my mom's for a BBQ and celebrations. This year, she came here to my dad's, and we had a really good time. My sister has a birthday in the summer, and so we usually celebrate with her in some way. Usually, this is a summer BBQ or some kind of low key family party at my mom's. My cousin is having a Graduation/  Going off to College party this summer so we will be going to that this year.

Summer Event in a book I want to attend

I can't recall if it is said when the event takes place, but I am going to assume this event takes place in the summer. I would love to go to Excelsi Con from Geekerlla and The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston. I love the culture of a con, and I'm such a nerd that I would have such a fun time there. The characters in the books are so charming and vivid and I believe I would have such a great time with all of them. The panels described in the book seem like so much fun and I would enjoy hearing the cast talk about the movie and franchise in the book. I have never been to Atlanta, so when I was not at the con, or a few days after the end of the con, I would explore the city.

Top Ten Tuesday- characters that remind me of myself

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! This is a weekly meme where readers discuss ten or whatever number you would like to have based on a prompt. Our host is Jana at  thatartsyreadergirl . Our topic this week is Characters Like Myself. I am going to take a two words that each character has in in my opinion,  and discuss how that relates to me  as well. 1- Cather Avery from Fangirl Writer- At her core, Cath is a writer, and she loves her stories. I am a writer of both Fan Fiction and original stories like Cath so this was an automatic in for this. Both of us love our work and we tend to through ourselves whole hardheartedly into our work. Sisters- I might have mentioned this on the blog before but I have a younger sister and we’re only roughly 18 months a part. Cath and her twin sister Wren are polar  opposites and this is me and my sister. My younger sister is an extrovert and into science. I on the other hand,  am an introverted creative bookworm.  ...

Top Ten Tuesday books/ series I would recommend to someone who says don’t like to read.

Hi! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana @ thatartsyreadergirl . This weekly meme was born out of a love of lists and bringing the book blogging community together. Each week, Jana will post a topic, and we will all make a list based on that topic. This week, the topic is Books Written Before I Was Born ( These can be books you’ve read or want to read! ) ( submitted by Davida Chazan @ The Chocolate Lady’s Book Review Blog ). I wasn’t feeling this, and so I went through and found a post from The Broke & the Bookish, and I did that. The original post can  be found here . I thought I would recommend some books from some of my favorite genres.   The Classics 1- Pride & Prejudice This is one of my favorite classics, and when making my list this week, I knew I needed to include it. The reason is that I think this is one of the best books by Jane Austen, and we use the story in a lot of modern media. 2- To Kill A Mocking Bird I was so surprised by how much...

Top Ten Tuesday- Fall TBR

Hi! Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by Jana @ thatartsyreadergirl . This meme was made to foster our love of lists and bring the book blogging community together. Each week, Jana will post a list, and we readers will write a response. We also have the option of doing our own thing. This week our topic is fall tbr. I’m a mood reader, and I help out with a game and take part in a game every month. Every time you see a game prompt means that I will try to find a book on my shelves once I find out what the prompts will be. I’m going to reserve two books a month for games. I plan on reading more than what is listed here. This is just a small taste of what I hope to read.   September 1- On the Come Up by Angie Thomas (57%) done–I left my Ipad down the shore, luckily my mom and sister found It and they have it. I am enjoying this book. I’m not sure if I will be able to finish this by the end of this month, but I wanted to put it here anyway. 2- Barakah Beats by Maleeha Siddiqui (10% d...
