May Wrap Up!

Hello! It's the end of the month  so it's time for another wrap up! Despite being extra busy I still managed to read 2 books, finish 3 books from March and April, and start 2 new books! I want to talk about the books as they come up on the list.

Favorite Read- Romanov

Books Read this month

The Prince and The Dressmaker by Jen Wang

Rating- 5 stars

Format- Ebook

Read from-  May 12th- May 17th

Favorite Character- Frances

This was a buddy read for a task in the Group Challenge I'm in on Goodreads. It was a ton of fun and I loved the story. If you want a story that talks about identity and acceptance this Graphic Novel is great. Also, it features a cute friendship that I couldn't get enough of.

Romanov

Rating- 5 stars

Format- Us Hardback

Read from- 5/7-5/26

Romanov by Nadine Brandes

Favorite character- Nastya

I had been anticipating this book since I heard about it. This book didn't disappoint, and I loved the story from beginning to the end.    I welcomed the Historical FictionI welcomed the Historical Fiction because we have a few retellings with Anastasia in Space, but this is the first one I read where she was in the correct era.  Fantasy part of this was where the story went off the rails from a Historical Fiction. The Fantasy was what made the story unique and the  one  Nadine Brandes wanted to tell. I want to do a full review of this one soon!

Finished this month

Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan

Rating 4.5 stars 4 stars on Goodreads

Format- US Paperback

Read from - 4/28-5/31

Favorite characters- Rachel and Astrid

This book was so close to being a 5 star read. In the other two books of the series we have three plus dramatic events that take us on a ride with these characters. The third book only had two, while they were big I wanted more so we could get a from the big events. It let me down by the lack of drama as the other two had so much drama, this is why I only rated this 4.5.

The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston

Rating - 5 stars

Format- Ebook

Read from- 4/2-5/29

Favorite character- Imogen

I was not reading this book every day, so I took longer. This is not a bad book, I was trying my hardest to extend out the journey as I loved the story so much.  Jessica Stone might be my favorite character, but I am glad that we got a chance to hear her side of the story and hear about the choices she made. Mo was so cute and I wish that she was real so we could hang out. If you loved Geekerlla you will love this one.

Sky Without Stars (System Divine #1) by Jessica Brody and Joanne Rendell

Rating- 4.5 stars 4 stars on Goodreads

Format- Ebook

Read From 3/26-5/31

Favorite characters- Chatine and Alouette

Again, I was trying to extend the story out so I was not reading it every day. Please don't read the 4.5 rating in a way that this book is bad, this book is great and it could end up on my favorite books of 2019 at the end of the year. This is a  Les Miserables retelling, and if you know anything about Les Miserables, you can tell where the inspiration came from in the characters and the plot. The reason for the 4.5 rating is that at times reading this story I did not understand what was going on. The story jumps  from plot point to plot point and I was just so confused by how we got  from one plot point to another. Most of the time I understood, and the big plot points I understood, however; some smaller ones I did not understand what was going on and felt like I missed something. Maybe it was the Ebook or maybe it was just me.

Started this month

Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Page- 168/368

I love this story so far! I'm not a fan of Billy, but I am happy that  he is stepping up for his family. Daisy may be flawed but she is a great main character. The band is a delightful mix of personalities and  histories making it an even more fun read.

Mary Poppins by P. L. Travers

I started this a few days ago. I am two chapters in but I am enjoying the story.

To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Cristo

I would wait until tomorrow to start this The Little Mermaid retelling, but I started it today and it is so good! I don't know if this is a Fantasy or not, however; this is the style of fantasy that I love, The characters are complex and the story is a fantastic.

What was your favorite read for the month?

Thanks for Reading!

Steph

Top Ten Tuesday- characters that remind me of myself

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! This is a weekly meme where readers discuss ten or whatever number you would like to have based on a prompt. Our host is Jana at  thatartsyreadergirl . Our topic this week is Characters Like Myself. I am going to take a two words that each character has in in my opinion,  and discuss how that relates to me  as well. 1- Cather Avery from Fangirl Writer- At her core, Cath is a writer, and she loves her stories. I am a writer of both Fan Fiction and original stories like Cath so this was an automatic in for this. Both of us love our work and we tend to through ourselves whole hardheartedly into our work. Sisters- I might have mentioned this on the blog before but I have a younger sister and we’re only roughly 18 months a part. Cath and her twin sister Wren are polar  opposites and this is me and my sister. My younger sister is an extrovert and into science. I on the other hand,  am an introverted creative bookworm.  2- Miriam Kendrick from C

Top Ten Tuesday- Favorite Books of the Year Part 1 (12-21)

Hi! Jana hosts Top Ten Tuesday @ thatartsyreadergirl . The purpose of this meme was to bring the book blogging community together and foster our love of lists. Each week, Jana posts a topic, and we readers respond based on that prompt. This week our topic is a freebie, so I decided to make my list of my top ten reads part one.   Middle Grade 12- Never After by Melissa de la Cruz I'm almost done with this book. It's a duology, and I loved the new twist on fairy tales.    YA 13- Don’t Read the Comments by Eric Smith I read this early in the year and it stuck with me. This YA Contemporary about gaming and the culture of the gaming industry was fantastic.  14- The Book Thief by Markus Zusak It took me years to read this book but I really enjoyed it. I love the unique narrator, the characters, and the story.  15- The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas This is another backlist release. I loved this book, and I knew when I read it that it had the potential to be on this list. I still thi

2019 Book Resolutions Tag!

Hey everyone! So Thursdays on the blog I am going to post a new tag. I think tags are so much fun, and I enjoy the time to reflect on what I’ve read in the past, or what I want to read. Images come from Goodreads. I grabbed the questions from  this blog 1. An author you’d like to read (that you’ve never read before). Leigh Bardugo! I have heard such great things about the Grisha verse, so I want to see if it lives up to all the hype. I have a feeling it will, and I am intrigued by the world. I got the first three books in the series as one large Ebook , so I ’m going to start that next month. I can’t wait to go on the journey and be immersed in a new series!  2. A book you’d like to read. Romanov by Nadine Brandes I love Anastasia and the Romanov family. This looks like such a fantastic retelling. I am drawn in just reading the blurb on Goodreads.  3. A classic you’d like to read. A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I’ve had the Barnes and Nobel edition of
