Top Ten Tuesday- Books to Films that I love!

Top Ten Tuesday Page to Screen Adaptations

Welcome back! Today I will do the weekly meme called Top Ten Tuesdays. This meme is hosted by Jana at thatartsyreadergirl. Our topic for this week is a freebie dealing with Page to Screen Adaptations. I decided to to 10 books they have adapted which that I loved.

1- To All the Boy’s I’ve Loved Before

Topping the list this week is this rom com I just adored. I read the first book, and I thought the movie was a perfect adaption. Sure, it missed some key topics but overall it pleased me. I can't wait for the second one!

2- The Hunger Games series

I read The Huger Games and it was my introduction to YA Dystopian. These films were fantastic, and I felt it pleased any fan if you have read the books or not. Were they perfect? Not really as key elements were missing, but the premise was there.

3- Pride and Prejudice (2005)

This is a perfect adaptation of the Jane Austen classic. I love  this and the period drama style. I watched this when I was in my 20s and fell in love.

4-  The Perks of Being A Wallflower

I read this book the summer of 8th grade going into high school. I watched the film, and I loved it so much. I felt it hit the key elements and encouraged people to read the book if they didn't already.

5-  Little Women ( 1994)

I watched this when I was my 20s as well. I don't know why I took so long to watch this movie but wow do I love it. I loved the movie because it stayed close to the original source material.  Winona Ryder as Jo I think  has the perfect amount of sass and sweetness.

6-  Love Simon

Oh wow do I love this movie. I finished the novel about a week before I saw the movie. This movie had some changes and I think that they improved the plot for the movie. They needed the edits as the movie went in a new direction.

7-  The Fault in Our Stars

Can we all appreciate this adaptation? I read this book and I was sobbing and almost threw the book across the room when I finished. This is a great adaptation because it hits all the points in the book.

8- The Gurnsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

Another Netflix adaptation! I had read this book after watching the film and I want to re-watch it now that I have finished the book. The second viewing I might have finished it or been in the middle of the novel.   I loved it even though there were edits because of the direction the movie took.

9-  Crazy Rich Asians

I was so into this film! The first time I saw it I had not read the book. By the time I watched it a second time I was in the middle of the book, or had maybe already finished this book. This is how you adapt a book to a film in my opinion. I know that they made some changes, and that Charlie Wu should have been used more, but I am so here for Crazy Rich Asians both the book and the movie.

10- Harry Potter  and the Sorcerer's Stone

I think I have said on the blog here that I was not into Harry Potter as  kid. I've seen all the films and love them all. I only put the first on there as it is the only book I've read.

Comments

  1. Do you think you'll read the rest of the Harry Potter books sometime? I found that the adaptations got better and better the further you went into the films.

  2. The Hunger Games movies weren't flawless, but they are definitely in the "good adaptations" category.

  3. I watched To All the Boys I've Loved Before and thought it was so cute! I haven't read the book, though, so I guess I can't quite compare it, haha. The 2005 Pride and Prejudice is fantastic, and Crazy Rich Asians was also so good! The visuals were stunning.

I am going to take a two words that each character has in in my opinion,  and discuss how that relates to me  as well. 1- Cather Avery from Fangirl Writer- At her core, Cath is a writer, and she loves her stories. I am a writer of both Fan Fiction and original stories like Cath so this was an automatic in for this. Both of us love our work and we tend to through ourselves whole hardheartedly into our work. Sisters- I might have mentioned this on the blog before but I have a younger sister and we’re only roughly 18 months a part. Cath and her twin sister Wren are polar  opposites and this is me and my sister. My younger sister is an extrovert and into science. I on the other hand,  am an introverted creative bookworm.  2- Miriam Kendrick from C

This week our topic is a freebie, so I decided to make my list of my top ten reads part one.   Middle Grade 12- Never After by Melissa de la Cruz I'm almost done with this book. It's a duology, and I loved the new twist on fairy tales.    YA 13- Don’t Read the Comments by Eric Smith I read this early in the year and it stuck with me. This YA Contemporary about gaming and the culture of the gaming industry was fantastic.  14- The Book Thief by Markus Zusak It took me years to read this book but I really enjoyed it. 2019 Book Resolutions Tag!

Hey everyone! So Thursdays on the blog I am going to post a new tag. I think tags are so much fun, and I enjoy the time to reflect on what I’ve read in the past, or what I want to read. Images come from Goodreads. I grabbed the questions from  this blog 1. An author you’d like to read (that you’ve never read before). Leigh Bardugo! I have heard such great things about the Grisha verse, so I want to see if it lives up to all the hype. I have a feeling it will, and I am intrigued by the world. I got the first three books in the series as one large Ebook , so I ’m going to start that next month. I can’t wait to go on the journey and be immersed in a new series!  2. A book you’d like to read. Romanov by Nadine Brandes I love Anastasia and the Romanov family. This looks like such a fantastic retelling. I am drawn in just reading the blurb on Goodreads.  3. A classic you’d like to read. A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I’ve had the Barnes and Nobel edition of
