Top Ten Tuesday!

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesdays! As always, this weekly meme is hosted by Jana at thatartsyreadergirl. I love the weekly discussion and I love seeing what other bloggers say to all the questions. This week's question is about Outrageous/Crazy/Uncharacteristic Things  I've done for the love of books. I stared at this prompt for a while, and nothing was coming to me. I guess I'm a more normal kind of a blogger. So, I looked back at The Broke and the Bookish. This week I will do the prompt of book characters I would like to have as family members. I was drawn to this prompt because I love a lot of literary characters, so I thought it would be great to ramble about some of my favorite characters.

1- Cather Avery from Fangirl as my sister

I know that I have spoken loads about this novel in the past. I call this my favorite YA contemporary novel, and it really still is if I'm being honest. Cath and I are a lot alike, and so we are a perfect match to be sisters. I don't think that the two of us would annoy each other, and I think that we would have nerdy late night talks.

2- Miriam from Comics Will Break Your Heart as my sister

Mir is such a gem of a character and I hope that you all will read this book! Miriam and I are a lot alike, and while reading the story, I was so drawn to her as a character because of the connection I had with her. Like Cath and I Mir is a bit of a nerd, and I think that the three of us would really hit it off as sisters.

3- Darien from Geekerlla  as my brother

I needed a brother in this little family I'm creating, because I think that we would all go a little mad if it were just women. Dare is such a nerd, and I think that he was the perfect fit with the rest of the characters I picked. I find him such a sweet character, and he would do anything for the people he loves. I imagine many late nights with discussions of our love for all things nerdy.

4- Hodel from After Anatevka as my sister

I know that this is a strange choice, but hear me out here I have a plan for this. I love Hodel and I think that she would push us introverts out of our shell, with the help of Dare. I see Hodel as the one that is sensible, and she helps us push our limits and put ourselves out there. I feel that Hodel fits well into this dynamic because she reads, but also she is one that wants to get out and see the world. With me, Cath, and Mir, being introverts, we would need someone like Hodel to tell us to get out of the house and go on an adventure.

5- Jane Eyre from Jane Eyre as my cousin

You all probably saw Jane coming somewhere on this list right? Anyway, Jane is such a fun character. Jane enjoys books, and I would say that she is a bit of an introvert as well. I imagine many late nights with myself, Cath, Mir, and Jane discussing all the books we love over tea.

6- Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice and The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennett as my cousin

I put two books here because they're the same character. It's not secret that Pride and Prejudice is my favorite Jane Austen novel, and so I knew that I wanted to put this novel on the list. Elizabeth is so sweet, but she is also very grounded, and not someone who would let a lot of things slide. She, like Hodel, would bring us introverts out of our shells and take us on adventures.  Elizabeth would also be a great sister for Jane, for the same reason, the two of them would have endless discussions of books and life.

7- Rhys from A Court Of Thorns and Roses series as my cousin

I feel that Lizzie and  Jane need a brother. Rhys has the sass and frass needed to keep up with those two. Rhys would also be the perfect buddy for Dare I feel like. As a character, Rhys is someone who is not terrified to put people in their place. I think this would be  the perfect thing for someone to be in the dynamic of this family.

8- Eponine from Les Miserables as my cousin

I am not sure if I have ever talked about this on here, but I have read Les Miserables in the past. The monster of a book took me over two years to read, it was crazy, but I was so here for it.  I have been a fan of the musical for years, and Eponine is my favorite character. Eponine is street smart, she knows her way around, not to quote the musical or anything, but she knows the city like the back of her hand I would say. Eponine is sassy and opinionated, and this family could use someone like her. I don't see her as related to Jane, Lizzie, and Rhys, because I have a feeling that could really be disastrous if things go the wrong way.

9- Sonya from War and Peace as my cousin

I am in the middle of War and Peace. This book will take me a while, because I keep reading other books instead of this one, but I wanted to out my favorite character from the story on this list! Sonya is so kind, gentle. and nurturing. I could see Sonya and Eponine having the kind of sister dynamic that my own sister and I do. Sonya would want to help Eponine with any problem that arises, and she would stand by her no matter what. I feel that Sonya is the gentle soul that Eponine needs in her life, because we all need that support system and someone to tell us when a thing is dangerous  or foolish.  I imagine these two would have a lot of fun as sisters, Sonya helping Eponine when needed, and Eponine getting Sonya out of the house.

10- Imogen from The Princess and the Fangirl as my cousin

Another character that I relate too, and I feel would be a fantastic edition as a sister of Sonya and Eponine. Imogen is a huge nerd who cares so much for fandom and just wants to save her favorite character. As a person in this family, I see Imogen working the same for each family.  For Sonya and Eponine, she would be the sister that they could turn to when they needed something, and they know that she would be there for them, as her character is a loyal person.  As far as for the general dynamic in the family, Imogen would be a source of light humor. She is a hilarious character I find, and with all the dramatic characters in our family, we could use Imogen and her humor.

Top Ten Tuesday- characters that remind me of myself

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! This is a weekly meme where readers discuss ten or whatever number you would like to have based on a prompt. Our host is Jana at  thatartsyreadergirl . Our topic this week is Characters Like Myself. I am going to take a two words that each character has in in my opinion,  and discuss how that relates to me  as well. 1- Cather Avery from Fangirl Writer- At her core, Cath is a writer, and she loves her stories. I am a writer of both Fan Fiction and original stories like Cath so this was an automatic in for this. Both of us love our work and we tend to through ourselves whole hardheartedly into our work. Sisters- I might have mentioned this on the blog before but I have a younger sister and we’re only roughly 18 months a part. Cath and her twin sister Wren are polar  opposites and this is me and my sister. My younger sister is an extrovert and into science. I on the other hand,  am an introverted creative bookworm.  2- Miriam Kendrick from C

Top Ten Tuesday- Favorite Books of the Year Part 1 (12-21)

Hi! Jana hosts Top Ten Tuesday @ thatartsyreadergirl . The purpose of this meme was to bring the book blogging community together and foster our love of lists. Each week, Jana posts a topic, and we readers respond based on that prompt. This week our topic is a freebie, so I decided to make my list of my top ten reads part one.   Middle Grade 12- Never After by Melissa de la Cruz I'm almost done with this book. It's a duology, and I loved the new twist on fairy tales.    YA 13- Don’t Read the Comments by Eric Smith I read this early in the year and it stuck with me. This YA Contemporary about gaming and the culture of the gaming industry was fantastic.  14- The Book Thief by Markus Zusak It took me years to read this book but I really enjoyed it. I love the unique narrator, the characters, and the story.  15- The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas This is another backlist release. I loved this book, and I knew when I read it that it had the potential to be on this list. I still thi

2019 Book Resolutions Tag!

Hey everyone! So Thursdays on the blog I am going to post a new tag. I think tags are so much fun, and I enjoy the time to reflect on what I’ve read in the past, or what I want to read. Images come from Goodreads. I grabbed the questions from  this blog 1. An author you’d like to read (that you’ve never read before). Leigh Bardugo! I have heard such great things about the Grisha verse, so I want to see if it lives up to all the hype. I have a feeling it will, and I am intrigued by the world. I got the first three books in the series as one large Ebook , so I ’m going to start that next month. I can’t wait to go on the journey and be immersed in a new series!  2. A book you’d like to read. Romanov by Nadine Brandes I love Anastasia and the Romanov family. This looks like such a fantastic retelling. I am drawn in just reading the blurb on Goodreads.  3. A classic you’d like to read. A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I’ve had the Barnes and Nobel edition of
